Alt text for those with vision issues, would be helpful.

A man with an axe is sleeping in the woods. The blade of the axe appears to be dangerously close to cutting him. He has blue leggings and a green tunic that has mostly faded away over time. He's resting at the bottom left corner of an image added to a medieval manuscript. Reference: Vie de seint Aedward le Rei, Cambridge, University Library, MS Ee.3.59, fol. 23r (1230s-1240s).
Happy Saturday!
If you get a good look at his costume, you'll see they make the back seam mimic the shape of the real Richard's scoliosis. Director Antoni Cimolino did a lot of research on the historical Richard, which is why it begins with finding his remains (in 2012)
Check Via Libri, which looks through multiple stores/2nd hand stores, etc.

Richard 111 boar on St Maryβs Parish Church, Barnard Castle.
Richard 111 boar on St Maryβs Parish Church, Barnard Castle.
Weathered carving of a boar beside the east window of the south transept of St Maryβs Parish Church, Barnard Castle. Likely that this carving is a connection to the Richard III who was a benefactor of the church & founded a college there.

Two heavy oak doors reinforced with iron. One is attached to the outside of the doorway, the other to the inside.

The site (from afar) of the Battlefield. Picture of a scrubby green field with a row of trees in the distance.
This Sunday we are looking forward to hearing John Whitehead from the Mid-Anglia Group, who will share his research on Bosworth - the Burials and the Healing. John was a guide at Bosworth Battlefield for many years. Via Zoom as all our meetings are, as our members crosses the country.

This is even more clear with some authors. We had a discussion once with @hntdove.bsky.social & @guygavrielkay.bsky.social about Richard III.
Small painting from a manuscript. A man with a black hat, and red tights has a white shirt with a blue tunic over it. He has a shovel which he is putting into the soil at his feet.
The March Labour of the month is preparing the soil. The trees are still bare but our labourer has his sleeves rolled up because this is clearly hot work. (Unite Library AF A28 f 5r)
A small red dragon with gold wings and blue horns. It is quite skinny.
A small dragon for your viewing pleasure. (Getty Museum, Ms. Ludwig IX 5, fol. 104v)
Hmm. This will be quite the list. But will there be old classics like Marjorie Bowenβs Dickon?

Beautiful piece about Richard IIIβs original grave @kriiicentre.bsky.social and his new one in Leicester Cathedral. The pictures are, of course, astonishing.
Excellent alt text too!

A cushion, mostly in green. A smiling white boar, who looks rather pig-like it must be said, is standing on a hill. There is a crown floating over him.
One thinks of boars as fierce, but this white boar, emblem of Richard III, is rather cute! A kneeler in St. Mary and St. Alkelda church, Middleham
Photograph of part of a church. Decidedly Norman in style except for the Oriel window visible at the top.
It's a beautiful church!

Itβs so common to come across the assertion that books were luxury objects exclusively for the elite in the Middle Ages that I want to guest curate a massive exhibition called βMeh-nuscripts: Books for the Many,β which features just workaday or unremarkable objects.
