It's easy to get lost in a simple patch and not push further into more complex spaces. I love that point where it crosses over into unexpected worlds of exploration, performance and discovery.

That line is lazy and condescending. There are better ways to turn people on. Discovered her music from a tape made by a friend in the late 90's. Well before any reissues and certainly not from some blogger who likely just discovered it themselves. I also know quite a few folks who know her work.

Also before lockdown I worked at Rasputins in Berkeley and MM came in. He systematically scoured the budget bins. He calculated we had about 10,000. He mentioned looking specifically for old country and weird kitsch, even if he had it, he'd grab it for a friend.

Another Sperrazza connection. When Gary wrote for Bomp he shared a space with MM which makes sense as they both were music writers. He told me about how he'd be editing an issue and MM would be writing/rehearsing 1 song for hours. He'd hear My old Man's a Fatso or Gas Chamber 40 times in a row! lol.

I have Industrial Evolution, that's a fun read. Don't know the other one.
