Have a listen to this week's The Rest is Entertainment. Hyde & Osman superb. It covered this very topic. Real eye opener

Lots of sympathy with this arguememt - but likely counter productive.

We are dealing with a hyper erratic man child capable of doing anything which could hurt UK.

Probably best Charles goes and subtly exerts influence on Britain's behalf

Very early days to be calling that

PM imo doing ok on this issue so far
Suspect longer term may help him given Trump not running in next election (as stands!) & will be freer to speak prior to ge

Pm cannot mouth off v Trump. UK is much more entwined with US than ESP - also UK not in the EU.

Mind constantly blown Tories are deemed by largest voter group best for economy.

So the party that brought most deindustrialisation & privatisation, austerity, brexit and Truss would be best - alrighty then...

Not a labour voter & made some poor economic choices but imo deserving of a higher rank.

Disagree to say it is a years foreign policy in tatters. IMO it was broadly worth the up front "investment" & bought a year. If he hadn't done it that we may have even greater issues.

It was always, always going to fall apart when you have someone like Trump in power.

Odd reaction - just because someone disagrees with you does not mean there was an attempt to dupe.

Best...

Human being here. I have been respectful and polite so don't get your reponse.

Am sure will agree with you on many things on this mess.

I'm anti this war as was the Iraq war

Trying to point out that imo there is more to this than the standard liar/warmonger line

I wish you well

So you are telling me what I see? - ok novel

I see emotion from folk - not clear eyed assessment

i have zero issue with the UK allowing its bases for defensive (not offensive) moves if it means helping to protect 300k UK nationals

PM - like him/not - did not ask for this - its not Blair/Iraq

02.03.2026 14:54 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Don't see lies & not sure what you mean

Nightmare US pres. - times not normal & need to deal with world we live in & not the world we would like to have

PM trying to stay away from mess but 300k UK people in harms way -does UK gov do zero to defend them by enabling shooting down drones/missiles?

02.03.2026 14:27 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

See folk jump on PM being warmonger/liar etc

Disagree

V tricky trying to keep out of this

Get folk annoyed on dom. UK stuff & poor PM calls - this needs more thought

Tho PM didnt help himself yest morn saying not involved & in even. - bases used

Should forecasted need for consistent messaging

Don't think this binery

My initial view was whats is PM letting bases be used?

On reflection if used (big if) for defense to protect (ie shoot down missiles/drones) countries with x 000's of UK folk - may be right call

HMG not attacking Iran rightly but needs to deal with tricky US

Needs nuance

Totally agree Mike is normally good at nuance.

Agree. Yet also conversely with PR reform would have looked like they had done a lot less well than with fptp

Real danger anti reform folk on here over analyse Mahmood immig policy

Many reasons greens won - b/election after all

Danger miss the big picture that Labour been universally poor at politics/cementing a base whilst navigating tough era.

Lab should let dust settle a little & then restrategise

I strongly suspect there are some bad faith international actors (hostile states) pushing these nonsense videos.

Govt. should deffo intervene - it us not good for perception of the UK, tourism ir international investment. It is also adding to domestic political destabilisation

Not an economist either but think recall reading that volatility in the niche trading circumstances relating to gold via the UK was having somewhat of a distorting effect & non "real world" bearing on UK trade stats.

Wouldn't know if factor in either of these reports - would need expert view!
