A black ceramic vase in the shape of a rounded square pillow. Coming out from the pillow form are 5 v-shaped comes, lined up across the diagonal of the square, going from shortest on the outsides to tallest in the inside. The outside of the vase is raw, matte ceramic, with a shiny glazed texture that curves asymmetrically around one of the corners. The vase is on a plain white plinth, and is displaying Baptista branches, which have green leaves at the bottom and black, Peapod shaped pods at the top.
A black ceramic vase, same as the last photo, it is in the shape of a puffed up square pillow, with v-shaped cones coming out of the top. The cones get taller toward the centre and shorter toward the edges. This is a side view taken from the corner angle. On the surface you can see a curvy lined texture in the clay, that goes in a curved band by the corner of the square pillow and the tops at the widest part of the vase cones. The texture is highlighted with a shiny glaze, while the rest of the piece is the matte black of the raw clay body.
A mock-up of the pillow vase made out of two layers of purple insulation foam that has been sculpted to the square pillow shape that is thickest in the middle, and tapers to a point at the edge of the square. I have cut out truncated cones from a newspaper and they are taped onto the surface to test out placement.
A finished square pillow vase. This one has almond shaped texture radiating from a point along the edge of the square. It has three v-shaped cones coming out of one corner, where a handful of tulips are propped and dangling out of. The glaze is a turquoise colour that breaks over the texture, so the raised almond shapes show in a darker tone in some spots and black in other spots. The vase is sitting on a table in the park on a sunny day, and the wind has picked up the tablecloth underneath. The back side of the tablecloth is floating upward in the background.
Hi #pottersofbluesky , ๐ I usually do a lot of throwing in my ceramic practice, but I had this dream of making a square pillow shaped vase out of clay. Here are my first two tries, and a process photo of my mockup.

Hello! I'm new to Blue Sky, and am not sure how this works yet, but can I be added as well? I'm a ceramicist from Toronto.
Thanks!! ๐
Yes! Love those.
A shot of a metal ground texture plate from the sidewalk. Cut off text at the bottom of the plate reads, "enah foundry company", and text at the top reads, "Made in USA". The texture shows large raised bumpy textured circles in a grid layout. Between them are squares on the diagonal, made up of small circular bumps. There's a tiny piece of blue plastic garbage near the top.
New to Bluesky, but wanted to participate in #Blueskyartshow , I'm told the theme is #pattern
Here's a shot of a sidewalk texture plate.
