Salute to a man who was probably the single most important studio engineer of my most formative years and beyond. He shaped sound, sharpened samples and varnished vocals. Tribe, De La, The Roots, Badu, D’Angelo and too many more. A true wizard.

RIP Bob Power. 🕊️

All of us Gen X’ers who grew up poring through the liners notes and album credits on vinyl albums, the J cards of cassette tapes and CD’s reading all the names involved with the albums we loved will forever love & appreciate the contributions Bob Power made to the music that was our life soundtrack.

We’re taking a look at the career of Sir Mix-A-Lot, & discussing how he has been unfairly stamped as a one hit wonder, due to the popularity of “Baby Got Back” from his 3rd album Mack Daddy.

Today’s the 37th anniversary of Sir Mix-A-Lot debut album, Swass.

Choosing to re-release this episode today was a total coincidence, we didn’t plan this at all…you’d be surprised at how many times this happens with our releases.

This was one of my favorite episodes to record. Especially the Flavor Flav bit.
