1/ PM Carney: you can and must categorically rule out participation in this illegal war.
Your unqualified support of Trump and Netanyahu’s war was bad enough. It’s unconscionable that you’re now considering putting Canadian forces in harm’s way.

PM Carney: Canada's support for US striking Iran came with regret
He's a reluctant imperialist you see
In new comments, Mark Carney misled and lied about Iran’s nuclear program and the history of negotiations — blaming failures on Iran, rather than Trump’s withdrawal.
He condemned Iran for its retaliatory strikes, but not the US and Israel for their initial attacks in violation of international law.
Thumbnail of an Instagram reel. It has a photo of Mark Carney speaking at a podium, edited to appear in front of smoke plumes amid a city. The text reads: "I'm all for international law 'theoretically'".
1/ This is utterly incoherent.
What Canadians need to hear from our Prime Minister right now is simple: call for a ceasefire and immediately withdraw your misguided support for Trump and Netanyahu’s illegal war.

While working-class Canadians are being told to make sacrifices by PM Carney, his Liberal government is repealing the luxury tax on private jets and yachts. The contrast could not be more glaring: austerity for working people, tax breaks for those at the very top.
Last week I tried to remove sections of the Liberal budget bill that retroactively deny compensation owed to Canadian Veterans. But the Liberals and Conservatives teamed up to keep the provisions in place. This shameful decision breaks Canada’s covenant with those who served.
Carney says Canada supports Trump's illegal war. Then he ducks reporters.
Harper 2.0.
"Reporters travelling with Carney have not yet had the opportunity to ask him about his weekend statement."

This data was collected from before that announcement. So we'll have to wait a week or so to see if the polling has shifted
People loved it when Carney called Trump “transformational,” a word with multiple meanings that led the U.S. president to hear only what he wanted to hear.
But is that what Carney did to all of us with his Davos speech, too?
In light of his support of the Iran bombings, I’d argue yes:
The NDP are the only alternative to the Trump-Carney-Poilievre war coalition
X/Twitter post from Anand reading: "Re strikes on Iran, it is key to remember that “Canada wasn't involved. We weren't notified, and we do not have an intention to be involved in any military strikes or operation." In addition, Canada believes in a diplomatic and peaceful solution and in my conversations with my counterparts in the Middle East and Gulf countries, this is precisely the issue that I raise."
Days after Mark Carney endorsed the US-Israeli war of aggression, Minister Anita Anand is now trying to distance Canada from it and says her government supports a "peaceful solution."
Shameless weasels.
It’s defensive when we do it, but offensive when they do it.
As part of our series on the #NDP leadership race, The Leveller spoke to @avilewis.ca about his candidacy. We asked about the political struggle moving from the streets to the ballot box, the rise of fascism and his family's legacy.

Four baseball cards against a sky background. The cards say that Marilyn Churley (former NDP MPP, Toronto-Danforth), Jim Morton (former MLA, Nova Scotia NDP), Gene Long (former NDP MHA, Newfoundland and Labrador), and Peter Prebble (former Saskatchewan NDP MLA and Cabinet Minister) endorse Avi Lewis for NDP leader.
These former provincial legislators are backing our campaign because they know bold ideas & big organizing are how we win.
They share our vision to tackle the cost of living, climate emergency, & inequality. I'm grateful for their confidence as we inspire Canadians in every region & community!
“It is highly likely that members of the Canadian military, on exchange with the United States, were involved in the planning and co-ordinating of airstrikes on Iran, says a former senior Canadian general”
*Mark Carney* supports Trump's illegal and immoral war. Canada does not.

Man, given how much he sucked, this really shows how people hate this war
a redacted version of the statement issued by Mark Carney, Canada's Prime Minister, earlier today, regarding the attack on Iran by USA and Israel. It now reads, "The Canadian government is a coward"
Lloyd Axworthy is a former Liberal Minister of Foreign Affairs whom I deeply admire and respect. This article should be read by every Canadian.

Several points:
1) Iran's regime is odious. Its citizens deserve support.
2) That does not mean an attack will help.
3) Canada will find it hard to be so selective in its support for international law.
4) Canada does not benefit from a US administration unbound by the US constitution.
There will be one more debate involving the NDP leadership candidates—I'm honoured to be hosting it!

His fans cried "But look at pharmacare!". Yeah. When the Liberals were forced by the NDP. Now it's like this. Exactly as expected.
Proud to support Avi for NDP leader.
He's gonna take on the Carney-Poilievre coalition
Israel and US: destabilizes the Middle East
Canada: why would Iran do this?
Strategic voters elected a Poilievre-Carney coalition that licks the boots of Trump and Netanyahu
Masterful gambit!
Both Carney and Poilievre backed the strikes. The NDP condemned them. If bipartisan support for bombing countries bothers you as much as it bothers me, contact your MP ourcommons.ca/members and tell them Canada should be a voice for diplomacy, not rubber-stamping unauthorized military action.
NDP breaks with the Liberal-Conservative consensus of supporting US/Israel actions
