This was flagged by an internal system and some employees at the company urged higher-ups to contact the authorities. But leaders at the tech giant did not go to police, according to the report. The Journal says that according to an OpenAI spokesperson, Van Rootselaar’s account was banned but her content did not meet the threshold for alerting authorities. Eighteen-year-old Van Rootselaar was found dead on Feb. 10. She’s accused of killing her mother, stepbrother and six people at Tumbler Ridge Secondary school, in one of Canada’s worst mass shootings.
