Reform fury as someone else wins
by Our By-election Editor
Tim Shipsink
The losing candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, Matt Goodwhinge, has demanded an immediate re-run of the election on the grounds that he lost
comprehensively to someone else.
"It's totally unfair and rigged,"
said Goodwhinge.
"I shouldn't
be required to sit there and suck it up, just because I lost."
Mr Goodwhine continued, *I can't believe that all those voters I demonised failed to back me.
Especially after I was endorsed by Tommy Robinson and ten million Russian bots on X.
"We have clear evidence of family voting, where people voted in order for me to stop deporting their families."
Mr Badloser concluded. "I'm the victim of colour prejudice.
They didn't vote for me simply because I'm not green."
Reform leader
Mr Farage,
speaking from a sun lounger on a rock near the Chagos Islands said,
"It's a tragedy that the people of Manchester won't see Matt in Westminster, but my constituents don't see me in Clacton either."

Beautiful from Private Eye on the massive toddler-tantrum that Matt Goodwin and Reform are having, because they got whooped in Gorton and Denton.

Itβll expose Farageβs lack of substance as he fails to deal with it. The English Greens are likely to support the end of the UK too.

π¨You canβt game the Holyrood voting system. Giving your second vote to the Greens can reduce the overall number of Indy MSPs. π¨

Hi, no-one whipped him, there isnβt a secret cabal which runs the SNP. No offence but did you go to any branch meetings? π theyβre not that mysterious.

Hi youβre saying the vote is wasted, but thatβs not correct. Itβs more true to say: you donβt know whether the SNP2 vote will help elect an SNP MSP. It could do.
But you also donβt know whether a second vote for Green will elect a Green MSP. Thereβs no guarantee.
Correct?

Hi, we donβt support people voting for other parties. Our branch political education officer emailed us about second votes yesterday. Itβs a mugβs game. Thereβs no guarantee of an Indy supermajority by trying to game a dβhondt system and it carries huge risks. π€·

Hi, the usual warning applies if you try to vote tactically in a Holyrood election - it could backfire. It the SNP supports slips on the constituency vote it could lead to more unionist MSPs.

But there are no guarantees, hence why you say βunlikelyβ. Doing that could also increase the number of Unionist MSPs.

Hi I go by the polls too (James Kelly/ScotGoesPop). If you give fewer votes to the SNP thereβs no *GUARANTEE* the Greens or Alba will pick up another seat. That wonβt be affected by an extra Yoon party either. Dβhondt.

Hi so the SNP are *GUARANTEED* to win 32% in Glasgow, in May? Their vote share could drop. Then youβve spent your second vote on Green or Alba without them winning a seat (especially in Albaβs case). The number of independent seats could fall. Thats dβhondt.

Hi itβs an hour long, but I guess the gist is: the SNP are *GUARANTEED* a certain number of consistency votes so vote someone else on the list to get an independence super-majority? Completely foolproof way to game dβhondt?
