Flutist Rachel Beetz returns with Tone Keepers on Feb 6. The album track βReverbβ explores an βalien harmonic orbitβ built from spacious multiphonics and cyclical breath. Beetz treats sound as physical touchβa transduction of energy through air to the eardrum. klofmag.com/2026/01/rach...
Rachel Beetz has an odd one for you, each track is reduced and focused down to one effect (gate, delay, feedback, and reverb) but it never feels austere, it's like a free flowing conversation to get into their inner workings. I associate reductionism with a cold severity but this is the opposite.
Two side-long meditations on the Hardanger fiddle, a folk instrument native to Norway (aka my people ;).
Really looking forward to spending some time with this Zosha Warpeha record.

Announcing I grow accustomed to the dark, a new album of expansive, long-form compositions for Hardanger d'amore by Zosha Warpeha.
You can also put your ears to a portion of "visual purple," a knotty piece centered around harmonic beating and close-tone dissonance
Each piece revolves around a simple but inventive technique for generating acoustic sound coupled with a discrete mode of electronic processing, spinning out variations on the unique effect it produces. They glow with the delight of answering the question βwhat happens if I do *this*?β
Today we're releasing Tone Keepers, a new collection of deceptively simple compositions for flute, piccolo, and electronics by Rachel Beetz.

Announcing On Separation, a new album by DC-based experimentalist Heather Stebbins
The album began as a reintegration of dormant musical practices, slowly shifting into a meditation on the nature of nostalgia itself.

Each piece on Orbweaver is spacious and tactile, with as much focus on the sound of breath against wood and the slow scrape of horsehair on gutstrings as it is on its spellbinding harmonic development.
Available on limited edition cassette and digital. Couldn't be more excited about this one.
