I never feel like I have a home. Until I find myself in these moments, getting exactly what I need, without even asking for it.
Maybe my home isn't a place, maybe home is tradition and customs I sometimes loathe, ancient wisdom that never fails to soothe my soul.
Mya has climbed on a roof to be close to the tree her uncle planted in his backyard when she asked for more shade some 20 something years ago.
How can you ever explain to someone who doesn't get it that your grieving is best done by being overwhelmed with the sound of drums and the loud crying of people tearing the screams out of your own throat? And then soothed by a tree planted because you once asked for shade?
When the ancestors that loved you visit you in your dreams it is them reminding you that still have your back.
You arenβt alone in this world because you have people all around you wherever you go that are spiritually present.
My dad had 5 kids, from 3 different women. The last 2 kids are products of adultery given that he was still with my mother.
It's such a mess to deal with.
I'm glad I'm getting this fucked up chance to finally get to know all my siblings, but what a fucking mess.
Time to deal with my dad's complicated succession and my aunt decided to take over. She's an impressive, formidable, and cruel woman. We're very alike and it scares me. She's so much of what I aspire to be, and everything I never want to become.
