I worked in public health for a long time - in fact doing mass vaccination clinics - and between “we need to meet people where they’re at” and “look at these fucking idiots, we should shun them,” only the former will reach anyone. Public health is as much about harm reduction as anything.

I also learned from interviewing @edwincpark.bsky.social that there's no guarantee that people who get Medicaid through SSI will be exempt from work requirements either. Like, these are people who have gone through a lot of paperwork for the government to see them as disabled enough.
These guys are constantly telling on themselves that they can’t imagine anyone acting on an actual principle. Protesters? Must be getting paid. Bishops noticing that Jesus had some thoughts on welcoming the stranger? Gotta be a payday in there.
