Privatization picking our pockets.
Another Royal Mail price hike: Form 7 April 2026 1st class postage price Β£1.80, 2nd class 91p.
When privatized in 2013 by Tory/LibDem Govt: 1st class 60p; 2nd class 50p.
RM doesn't meet letter delivery targets. Fines passed to customers. Execs get bonuses.
UK democracy in action
The state unable/unwilling to provide people with clean water, timely healthcare, social care, decent housing, pension, affordable education, energy, decent roads.
Corporate profits guaranteed through PFI, privatisations, outsourcing, subsidies, regulatory inaction.
Average real wage of UK workers barely moved since 2008.
Some bosses collect 1,110 times the average worker pay.
50 families have more wealth than bottom 50% of the population combined.
Super-rich buy political parties and lawmakers to advance their interests.
Did you vote for the above?
BPβs new CEO to take home Β£11.7m this year, more than double her predecessor.
Daily pay > annual median pay of UK employee.
CEO pay at one company is a benchmark for another. Others will want more.
Govts, BOE, CBI and other neoliberals talk about wage inflation, but silence on fat-cattery.
GSK CEO got 50% pay rise to Β£15.6m.
Did you?
Neoliberals moan about rise in minimum wage. Govts preach pay restraint to workers. Silence on profiteering, hikes in exec pay/perks, dividends, share buybacks.
The state devoted to welfare of the super rich.
The Trump administration is increasingly granting ranchers permits to kill endangered Mexican gray wolves, including on public land. A Feb. 19 permit in Catron County, NM reportedly offers little evidence for lethal action yet targets a pack with a possibly pregnant female.

So let's hurry up and rename hotdogs, kidney beans, peanut butter, shepherd's pie, fish fingers, chocolate eggs, lady fingers, oyster mushrooms, cream crackers, etc etc!

So "lawmakers will outlaw use of 31 meat-related names as part of efforts to help livestock farmers in food supply markets"... just when health, climate & environment scientists are stressing the urgency of helping more livestock farmers OUT of food supply markets?
And what a silly, pointless move!
Did you know we use "Physical Therapy" on our patients? π¦ Here at the Alaska Raptor Center, injured birds like Ghost, a Bald Eagle recovering from a gunshot, get specialized physical therapy to keep their wings healthy and flexible. #PhysicalTherapy #BaldEagle #WildlifeRescue
Snow day in Sitka! βοΈ While schools may be closed, our resident birds are taking the weather in stride. Cozy perches, sheltered spaces, and a little extra relaxation, not a bad way to spend a winter morning. #SnowDay #RaptorCare #WildlifeConservation
Did you know ravens take snow baths? Snow baths work just like a regular bath to keep feathers in top condition, which is especially important during the long winter months. Who needs a spa day when you have fresh powder? #SnowBath #Ravens #FunnyAnimals

If we want a stable, secure, peaceful world, our governments should support democracy and self-determination everywhere, whether or not they agree with what the people want. Instead, for centuries, they have attacked democracy and self-rule, and we all live with the consequences.
Good morning , and thank you to Paula Sanders for sharing these two for your #FoxOfTheDay !

To say out loud: there is great treatment available but unfortunately it is only provided now in the private sector. We are sorry. And even better if we could also say: the NHS has a service to help you identify low-cost therapists and to work out which therapist is right for you.
yes my strong feeling for a long time is that the NHS just needs to be able to be honest about this. we don't have the resources to give competent free-at-the-point-of-use psychotherapy to everyone who needs it in the UK. we barely have the resources to cover those in extreme crisis.
As someone in the field I should point out that there was a narrowing of available therapies because the funding was stripped.
The govt favoured CBT because it was cheap, seemed easily measurable, and non-therapists could be trained to deliver it.
Experts in other therapies went private or away.
π¨Cody Roberts trial update: No decision has been reached at this time. Prosecutors and the defense have 5 days to finalize their agreement before the judge decides whether to approve the plea deal or not. We can only hope the right call is made, for wolves and all wildlife.

The precedent is eerily, chillingly precise. What the current Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is doing to immigrants and refugees today is almost a carbon copy of what Sir William Joynson-Hicks was doing 100 years ago. And that's not a good thing. My column.
