Pocket Casts was recommended to me as an Android user awhile before A8c acquired them, and I have been so happy ever since! Making the web player free to everyone is a big deal, because making more content available matters. <3

Sabbatical has been great for my decision making. Today, for example, I decided a good idea was hill repeats, in a cemetery, listening to My Favorite Murder, alone, in the rain. Got my heart rate way up!
All the catastrophes are: didn't understand the environment (landslides, sinkholes, sinkage, don't light coal mines on fire, etc), didn't understand how to read plans (builders changed bolts, rebar, number of screws, etc), didn't understand basic research (oops those railroads aren't compatible)
Because I'm not a huge nerd, I'm obsessed with this show called Engineering Catastrophes. And I'm so annoyed that THREE different episodes feature 601 Lexington. We get it! They didn't consider the cross winds!
Quick reminder: not a huge nerd.
So excited that Tumblr posts were cited as research in a PDF on @ifbookspod.bsky.social episode on "organized retail crime." Definitely confirmed Tumblr's rep as a place to get legitimate retail research. Definitely. We are known for that. Always have been. Industry lobbyists, come get your research

Would you say they're effervescent?
Kudos to Cates and her crew for putting this Year in Review together π
My 7-yo said: two plus two plus two is six!
And my 12-yo said: no, one plus two plus two plus one is six.
We believe in Clue math in this house.

7-yo just shout-sang "this girl is on fi-yer!" Before he ran right up the slide. The true anthem of playgrounds.

A tag from a kettle warning that the kettle will be hot when turned on.
That can't be right.
7-yo told me he's learning "-ay" words. I asked for an example and he says, "like when two cool guys meet and say 'ay."
HERE HAM, is how I always read this spine.
When my 7-yo took off his hoodie, the amount of pine needles that fell out... it's like he was a depression-era mattress.
7-yo: mom, I have a message for you, and it is my face.
The message:
HAIR DAY
A seven year old using a toy drill on an apple, successfully.
I'm not against where this is going, but I definitely don't know where it's going.
We don't have ducks, so I worry what this portends.
