CINNAMON RICE. Cumin lamb and caramelised onions. Roast chicken, pomegranate arils, garlic yoghurt sauce, parsley and spiced pine nuts. Maltesers to follow, since it’s Friday.

I am forever grateful that Terry Pratchett was with us as long as he was and it was not even close to enough

his work made me a better person, and I do not think I'm alone in that

GNU Terry Pratchett, we are so much poorer without you

Sometimes I feel like a fraud at neurodivergence because I’m only a wee bit autistic and in many ways tend to read as neurotypical if a bit odd, but I do have the autistic person’s great love of a metro system.

Of course internationally we’re currently thirteenth, behind 12 Chinese cities and Moscow. But we are also the oldest, the original and best.

MINOR ALARM as we watch The Taking of Pelham One Two Three as they declare the New York subway system the largest in the world. Panic ensues. BUT! It’s 1974, five years before the addition of 23 miles of Jubilee Line. NY pushed into second place, national pride restored.

1) Absolutely no mention of how this compares to fit notes for physical illnesses, which is surely a necessary baseline.

2) Lmao, may have just said β€œthis was a waste of time!”

Slight hiccup at this though I when making small talk at the end and someone asked β€œSo, are you a statistician?” and I had to burble β€œNo, I have a Film Studies degree.”

What with Blair on β€˜getting involved in Middle East wars of choice’ and now this, I feel we’re just in need of George Osborne to chime in on β€˜how public services feel underinvested in’ to get the full caboodle of unwanted advice.

There’s a terrible tendency that any time anyone comes along and starts saying things that are popular from a left perspective, established thinking goes β€˜all very nice yes, but it’s not SERIOUS is it’ even whilst all the accepted serious people fail absolutely constantly at the absolute basics.

Generally there aren't a whole load of moments where you can say Red Dwarf was prophetic but the Talkie Toaster has become horrifyingly real.

The ideal social media CEO is a gray dopey type who just posts press releases and doesn’t use their own product. Very much like drug dealing, as it turns out.

I have re-embraced BBC Sounds but have discovered a bit of an Issue where your My Sounds tab is ordered by original broadcast date rather than most recent broadcast date, so if you want to listen to Lord Peter Wimsey you have to scroll all the way back to 1983 even though it was on this afternoon

Pondering since last night's rewatch of IKWIG about how much the works of Powell & Pressburger insist that life has magic in it, but it's magic that you have to actively welcome and tune into. The wonder is all around, but the real trick is to crack your heart open for it.
