someone get this man a blacksky account lol
An AI manifesto that is self-claimed to be "pro-human", and also includes amingst its supporters... Steve Bannon.
The whole thread is a must read π
I read somewhere that the whole thing was orchestrated by the Future of Life Institute BTW, they weren't just a signatory. Which tracks, of course.
"Shared Prosperity: The benefits and economic prosperity created by AI should be shared broadly" hilarious coming from FLI which got its $700M from a crypto billionaire which is what has allowed them to do this shit more. Their last statement was with Muskrat Altman & such talking "shared property"π
"Then thereβs the Sci-Fi angle. Nobody is allowed to build a machine god and it needs an off-switch so we can kill it before [INSERT RANDOM SCI FI MOVIE REFERENCE]."
I'm so glad that @tante.cc did us the service of writing this because how many such things can we respond to?
"The claim that βhumansβ need control pretends that we are all one homogeneous mass but there are differences in power and access. Every monstrosity humanity did was under human control. Human control feels great because everyone reading it thinks it means them. It does not."
"thereβs SAG-AFTRA leadership and a whole lot of religious organizations all sharing the stage with β¦ well fascists."
Not surprised. Future of Life has been going into the labor space and elsewhere to further legitimize themselves. And they showed us all a masterclass in how its done.
There are some names in there that I was shocked to see as signatories. Why do you have to do this?
I kept on writing about the Future of Life Institute, who is behind it, for how many years, and now they've broadened their tents from TESCREAL eugenicists to the white nationalists that we don't have to do so much work exposing. Why is anyone legitimizing this?
If you're in a coalition with Steve Bannon, unless you've joined against your will--and you should blink twice to let us know if so--you should get a side eye.
Glenn Beck, another right wing talking head was also happy to put his name there."
Again, speaking of race scientists legitimizing themselves through the academy as Angela Saini outlined, I don't understand how people do this now with "AI".
"And boy is that tent big. Itβs big enough to proudly list Steve Bannon, one of the architects of the new wave of fascism as its second individual supporter. So itβs a declaration white nationalists and fascists can get on board with. ...
By @tante.cc who is on point as always.
"So there is a new declaration in town called the βThe Pro-Human AI Declarationβ...before we go into the details, letβs look at who is pushing this for a second because the declaration keeps talking about how broad their coalition is"

I wouldn't get mixed up with these people.

Hey all, sorry to say this, as I think I have well-intentioned friends who signed, but this "declaration" means nothing. Because Steve Bannon signed it, and he wants my family dead. So if you can sign along side him? At best, you got played. He's the "humanity in control". humanstatement.org
Maybe @adambecker.bsky.social and @gilduran.com but @xriskology.bsky.social may have more recommendations.
The @timnitgebru.bsky.social site is probably pretty appropriate in this case. Vox has a deal with OpenAI.

Yes we touch on eschatology in the TESCREAL bundle a little here. I'm sure others have done a lot more on that angle firstmonday.org/ojs/index.ph...
We went from making up reasons like "weapons of mass destruction" to you know what, fuck it we don't need to even lie, the president "had a feeling" that they pose a threat so we just bomb them so we can. A country doing this can't expect peace inside.
Likewise β€οΈ
This is how you do it πͺπ½πͺπ½πͺπ½

This is the kind of critical AI literacy practice that I'd like to see make its way into schools. It's not about how to best use this or that product; it's about mapping systems of power.
Ad for a session. There is a black and teal gradient in the back. It reads AWP 2026 Conference How to Resist AI in Writing & Teaching Then three images: A femme with dark hair wearing a black blazer and a dark blouse, looking towards the camera, with an arm up on a table. Below it reads, Carmen Maria Machado. A black and white picture of a man with dark skin, slightly long black hair, and dark stubble. Below it reads, Umair Kazi. A brown trans woman with slightly longer black curly hair, wearing a black sweater, with her arms crossed. She is standing in front of a brick wall. Below it reads, Dr. Alex Hanna. A fourth picture is on the right: a woman with brown skin, shoulder-length black hair, is smiling and looking at the camera. She is wearing a chunky necklace and a black t-shirt. A panel of approximately ten people β predominantly men in dark business casual attire β seated in a row of chairs on a stage, appearing to be participating in a panel discussion or Q&A. Several wear lanyards with name badges. The image is mirrored vertically, creating a reflection effect where the group appears both right-side-up in the lower half and upside-down in the upper half.
I think the visual of the youtube talk is like a Holbein painting and tells it like it is about narrative and sector capture: the mic passing aimlessly, credentials hanging on necks, the shoulder to shoulder barricade of it, heads gleaming like the teeth of a skull, chewing nothing.
Oops thank you.

Yaaay. Thank you.
Seems like the Future of Life Institute has succeeded in legitimizing themselves the same way Angela Saini outlined race scientists legitimized themselves through the academy (read her book Superior). I guess $700 MILLION DOLLARS in crypto money in one sitting gives you the resources to do that!
He has the mic and wants to warn all of us about the impending singularity explosion brought about by AI. We should help him save us.
Plenty more to say but let me stop here.
You wanna get mixed up with these people? Don't say we didn't tell you π€·π½
