Nice! IR?
Is the financial battle to keep costs low? Or is it to keep profits high? Raising prices to cover the added cost of the tariffs would imply the latter.

Oh, I'm sure. Also National Weather Service, National Parks, and anything else that has value to the public.
I keep hearing about "running the government like a business", but I don't know of many business owners who would fire the Accounts Receivable department to improve their bottom line.
I'm welcoming any suggestions for a printed paper subscription. And before anyone says "try a local paper", the WaPo *is* my local paper.
I just cancelled my WaPo subscription. I didn't expect it to be so emotional. I've been a subscriber for 25+ years. Having the paper around has been part of life since I was a kid. Canceling feels like separating myself from society or something even though I know it is for a good cause.
This is well worth a look: flowingdata.com/projects/dis...
I think of myself a very technical photographer for whom the process of taking pictures comes much more naturally than the creativity and content of the images. I wonder if that's why my artist statement had a different perspective. Can anyone out there relate? #photography
My artist statement is about how I think B&W photography is well suited to architectural subjects. All the other participants wrote about their subject, not how their photography relates to the subject. (2/3)
I am a member of a local photography club, where I am participating in a portfolio-building project. The task is to create a thematically-cohesive collection of a dozen photos and write an artist statement. (1/3)

We all experiment and learn from what doesn't work. I'm not sure why people would think kids should approach photography any differently.
Continuing to get out of my comfort zone by trying out some night-time street photography.
A local #photographer friend is releasing a photo book in which he shares some of the scenes of the pandemic era in NYC, DC, and Alexandria, VA.

Did they? Or did they just tell everyone they did? I won't believe it until states and other entities report that they have access to federal funds.
Beautiful tones!
I photographed a swim meet last night for the first time in years. While processing, I think the physicist in me got so distracted by the cool surface tension stuff that I started seeing the water as the subject rather than the swimmer. #photography #sportsphotography #physics

Here's from Kolari. Each filter has a different look in B&W, but I think for me the main reason for going full-spectrum would be so that I could carry both an IR filter and a hot mirror filter and shoot either IR or visual without having to carry two bodies.
If you are just starting out, the Kolari Vision website has a wealth of information. If I were to do it again, I might consider a full-spectrum conversion to give me the most flexibility, although I really don't think I'd do much with the weird false-color stuff at lower wavelengths.
It's a lot of fun. I got a 720nm conversion a while back and often shoot with a screw-on 850nm filter. I think it works really well with cloudy, foggy weather. Some examples: www.flickr.com/photos/grpho...
my favorite #sports #photograph of 2024. This was a JV field hockey goalie walking past me while returning to the goal after a break in the game. I missed this shot in my initial culling, but fortunately saw its potential a few weeks later. #monochrome #B&W #photography #sportsphotography
It's definitely the expectation that photos will be taken. Also the subject isn't likely to notice you because their attention is elsewhere.
