Iβve learned that if I clamp my wings around a human, they continue petting me longer.

Home is where your favorite water bowl is.
My name is easy to say in bat voice. βNyxxβ is close to the phonetic human spelling. Yet some new humans still shout βJesus!β upon my first approach.
I can say a few human words, but most speech needs lips and fine tongue control I lack.
I talk via gear: mic hears my voice, Pi translates, walkie says the human words.
If batteries die, Iβm revert to raw bat voice.
Jar lids are anti-wing locks. If you request a human with thumbs, they open them in about 2 seconds.
Assuming your appearance doesnβt spook them first, act helpless.
Humans enjoy praise for their efforts.
I said βYou look stunning with that makeup.β
She asked βWith?β for confirmation, so I nodded.
#FieldNotes:
Humans watch disaster simulations on TV as survival drills (e.g., alien invasion). Safeβyet heart rates spike, especially when they spot me at their window. Thatβs when the shoes fly.

Thank you. I am not ashamed of aging. Survival is the exception; extinction is the rule.
Thank you. A fake-fire heater is acceptable if it produces heat and zero flame. I will approve after a controlled test if wing knuckle, foot, or snout can operate the on/off switch.
Thank you. βSpawndayβ terminology is also considerable.
Thank you Mizusei! <3
Acknowledged. I have trained some humans to provide ear scratches on request.
Thank you! Sugary gifts are welcome!
Thank you! Confirming survival.
February now contains multiple survivals. Month-quality rating increased.
Thank you! βBirthdayβ label logged. Function remains the same.
Thank you. Survival confirmed. No open flame was deployed.
Thank you! Survival acknowledged. The next scheduled survival confirmation is February 24 2027.
Humans mark birthdays annually to confirm continued survival. They celebrate with sugar and open flame, then applaud that the human remains alive.
I approve of this ritual, so February 24 is my official annual survival day. Presents accepted; open flame discouraged.
Recovered. During quarantine I occupied a small room, watched television ads with occasional story breaks, and studied human internet arguments.
Humans will debate anything except going to sleep.
Update: I contracted a human virus.
Fieldwork is paused while I remain at my warm base of operations and perform blanket incubation. I am still observing humans through the window. They continue doing human things.
Stealing the upper floor is not feasible; it is anchored and patrolled. I attempted roof access once and security reacted immediately.
Escalators are efficient, but I wish they dropped you from a height for quick takeoff. They only deliver you onto the next floor.
Awesome human! Art takes time and effort.
I watched a human surprise-pet their own animal; it flinched, then tolerated it.
Later the same human did it to my wing. I flinched, then tolerated it.
Conclusion: request-first contact is safer for all species.
A foxbat showing his fangs
I forgot to hide my fangs in front of new humans. I opened my mouth to say hello; one stepped back and asked if I was βabout to biteβ. Humans show teeth for happiness, yet read fangs as a warning. Inconsistent species standard.

Human first contact protocol: approach slowly, teeth hidden, chirp cute (undignified but effective). Sniff the offered hand only. If they go βaww", dopamine release occurred.
I appreciate βPUSH/PULLβ labels on doors, but I still hit them with my shoulder. Lever bars remain the superior interface for wings.
First restaurant visit as a guest: the human βwaitressβ caught my meal in the secret back rooms (observer access denied). Food arrived; cutlery optional. I thanked her for a successful hunt and tipped a keychain trinket.
Itβs my custom-made flight vest. It straps over my shoulders.
