Greenwood (Tulsa, OK) was home to nearly 10k residents until the Black Wall Street massacre of 1921. Mobs of white residents armed by the govt destroyed Black homes & businesses leaving all homeless or dead destroying Black progress in the US & any hopes of Generational Wealth.

Ruby Nell Bridges Hall is an American civil rights activist and was the first Black American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana in 1960. When people say they want to, "see those 'good old days' return," for her they were anything but.
That must have been a hard time... Such a big tragedy...

From 1932 - 1972, the US Public Health Service and the CDC illegally tested the effects of the disease Syphilis on a group of nearly 400 African American men without their knowledge or consent in The Tuskegee Experiment. No assistance for the harm caused was offered until 1975.

François Scarborough Clemmons is best known for his appearances on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Mr. Rogers asked him to come on the show as officer Clemmons and even shared the pool with him! He took the role, the first recurring role for a Black American on children's TV!

Did you know that James Earl Jones, the man with one of the most iconic voices in the world, had to overcome a severe speech impediment; a stutter that had made him almost mute for years! Don't let ANYONE tell you to give up on your dreams just because of a few shortcomings!

RIP to the Reverend Jesse Jackson who began his lifelong fight for equality and justice in 1960. A critic of police brutality, the Republican Party, and conservative policies, Jackson was widely regarded as one of the most influential African‑American activists of his era.

It was not until February 1970 when President Gerald Ford officially recognized the first Black History Month. It originated from “Negro History Week” created by civil rights leader Carter G. Woodson, the only person whose parents were enslaved to obtain a PhD in history!
