We organise in the open, and you're very welcome to chat with the organisers to help, ask questions, give feedback, or simply watch. You can reach us on the #ev_socratesuk slack channel (slack.softwarecrafters.org), or on mastodon, LinkedIn, BlueSky, or by emailing organisers at socratesuk dot org.
Can you help? Weβre a not-for-profit community event (and very cute - just sayinβ) so we need help with ticket sales and sponsorship. Share this post with your networks, and ask your employer / contacts about sponsorship or buying tickets as brilliant training opportunities for employees.
More details: socratesuk.org/training_day...
The training day will be followed by the legendary open space event from Friday to Sunday, with organic sessions conceived during the event by all participants.
Tickets are first-come, first-served, so book yours before we sell out!

Have you heard of the SoCraTes events? These are software crafting unconferences / open spaces that happen across the world, in beautiful surroundings and with lovely people. They are my absolute favourite software events, and thatβs speaking as someone who attends 10-20 events each year!

...We just need to think about which party we want to vote for that has got a program that we believe in and we support, and that perhaps isn't owned by billionaires, and isn't up to its neck in corruption of all horrible kinds...

"I've spent the day mulling over the results of last night's polling, which show a dead heat three-way tie, between Greens, Labour, and Reform. And in a way, I feel it's a little bit liberating, and that none of us really need to think about tactical voting....

Today we're voting in a crucial by-election in the Gorton and Denton constituency (in the UK), which I happen to live in.
I'll be voting for The Green Party's Hannah Spencer, local plumber and all-round great person. Below is a screenshot from a video made by my husband, Ally Fogg.

Yay, SoCraTes UK training day is back!
Out of all the events I attend each year, it's always a delight to be back in Oxfordshire. SoCraTes UK is absolutely my favourite event of the year. It's a cute little community non-profit event, and the one I'm always prepared to find the funds for.
Have you made any plans for 2026 yet? How about giving yourself or a friend something to look forward to...
