Last minute change to the CUBC men’s Blue Boat with Tom Macky being dropped to Goldie and Luke Beever stepping up. Also Simon Hatcher and Luca Ferraro swap seats (bow and 7). #TheBoatRace
So, with Juniors on Friday, seniors on Saturday and Masters on Sunday this has the makings of the biggest 3-day #rowing festival in Britain (& maybe Europe). Potentially over 1000 crews could race during the 3 days

A friend of the family used to be the Landlord there in the late 70’s. I remember there used to be a tug of war v The Maybush across the river, the winners were the first to pull their opponents into the water!
Just wondering if, with everything going on in the USA at the moment, the prospect of studying and #rowing at an American University will become less and less attractive to non-Americans.
Not to be pedantic but it was 20 men and 16 women….all 4 coxes are men 😜
CUBC have named their reserve crews for #TheBoatRace the women’s reserve crew (Blondie) are coxed by Louis De Neve who, at 193cm, is the tallest in the crew and possibly the tallest cox to ever race in either reserves or Blue Boat
My next year was 1989 with UL…started 415th finished 14th! I reckon that’s got to be close to the most places gained ever 😂
I raced in ‘86 but moved school for ‘87 to a school that focused on 4’s so didn’t get to race that year

No more information than what’s in the statement, for some reason the PGCE has been deemed an ineligible course for the purposes of the Boat Race. It also impacts Kate Crowley (cox of the LW8 crew in 24) and Molly Foxell (Blondie 24). Maybe CUBC will issue a clarification statement?

So a pet hate of mine (one of many as I get older and grumpier) why do clubs refer to their crews as 1V and 2V this makes me think they’re rowing a 5. It usually means “Varsity” which is a University team not a club….how hard is it to write 1st VIII instead??
