One of the most talked about sections in the bookshop. Do you have a favourite Enid Blyton? Are you looking forward to the new Magic Faraway Tree film?
Here's Part 2 of our Books of the Year roundups - great recommendations here by authors & booksellers. What's your best read of the year? Please tell us in the comments! reviewsbywriters.blogspot.com/2025/12/book... #greatreads #BooksoftheYear #readingrecommendations @booky.bsky.social

I love a new Penguin too and my favourite Penguins of all time are Coralie Bickford-Smith's!
What says love better than a vintage Penguin paperback? A red vintage Penguin paperback of Shakespeare's Sonnets perhaps. These pink and red Penguins are new to our stock today.

Ink and wash picture of a snow woman, with a lovely pork pie hat, in a walled garden--a black bird on the wall behind her , a city scape in the distance. A melancholy expression on her face.
A Tirzah Garwood snow woman from 1938, in honour of (or in hope of?) tomorrow's snow day:
Thank you Samina. At least I'm well supplied with books to read.
No one wants to spend Christmas in the hospital - but if you DO need the hospital over the holidays - please wear a mask.
For the staff, for yourself, for all the other patients.
The period between Christmas and New Years is rife for virus spread - mask up and stop transmission!
Due to the shop gifting me a Christmas lurg, the bookshop will now be closed until 2nd January so that I do not pass it on. With this comes my constant plea to anyone knowingly poorly with a virus (even if it feels mild to you) to please stay home or mask. Happy New Year and see you in 2025!
I may sneak in an extra day or two if I can but these are the times we will definitely be open over the coming 10 days π #winchcombe #booksandink #cotswolds

Stow-on-the-Wold on my way home yesterday. One advantage of a long commute is I get to enjoy the landscape or Christmas lights on my way homeπ

A large stack of books piled in a cone shape like a Christmas tree, in a bookshop window with other display books and Christmas decorations.
Book trees make the best Christmas trees. Discuss.
(p.s. I bought remaindered stock - multiple copies of the same book - for this purpose years ago, so no special books are harmed in the making of my book trees).
Every single school should have a library & a librarian, to help every single child find the books that will make them readers, and give them all the lifelong benefits of literacy. Libraries & librarians change children's lives FOREVER!

I put the "let it snow" sign in the window on Sunday. Therefore, I'm pretty sure I made it happen!
To be fair, this is how I dance nowadays...
Six wooden recorders of different sizes in brown and black woods, pictured on a piece of sheet music with bare floorboards in the background.
As well as all things booky, bookish, booksellery &c., I'm also looking for recorder players and enthusiasts or baroque music nerds. Are you out there? Even better, recorder playing booksellers would be amazing. We could form a virtual group and call ourselves The Early Editions or Bookish Baroque.
