My confession I am a sinner doesn't make too much sense to me in terms of my sexual life or my disobedience towards my mother. It makes more sense to look on a world hunger map.

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

Playmobil Romans digging a marching camp in a garden border.

Feeling very spring-like in Norfolk today, & the bulbs are coming up, so my annual reminder to keep a vigilant eye out for these #GardenPests building marching camps, little gravel roads, fortified walls & villas in your borders. A Roman #PlaymobilInfestation can be difficult to control, but…(1of2)

Judaism: Time to pray! Let’s wrap up tight in our prayer shawls & rock back & forth for a while! The prayer book tells you the appropriate times to fidget with your sacred fidget-tassels. #Jewish

Quaker worship involves spending an hour sitting still, in silence, waiting to see if anyone speaks. While daunting for some, Rhiannon Grant explores why it might be rewarding. Read more: https://www.quaker.org.uk/blog/scary-silence-3-ways-quaker-meeting-for-worship-is-both-easy-and-hard

Your TBR pile is not there to be finished

You should never let your TBR pile fully deplete before buying more books.

That’s like waiting until your kitchen is empty to go to the supermarket. - Michael

I've just finished reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, one of those books I saw around so much I eventually had to find out why! (Answer: because it's good.)

Next up, on interlibrary loan, Woodland in the Neolithic of Northern Europe by Gordon Noble.

In this flat, yes, always, because the alternative is climbing in through a window! Where I grew up (Hertfordshire), yes, usually, enough that as a caller at someone else's house I'd start there. When I lived in Leeds people occasionally called at the back/kitchen door instead.

The son of the owner is now a taxi driver. I know this because I happened to get in his taxi last year (to go from a conference centre to the station in a city where I no longer live), and he recognised me enough to ask if we had a connection, and we reminisced about the restaurant.

The vegan pizza place! (They did other things too, but that's what I ate.) I loved it for the really good vegan pizza - I ordered so often that when I moved house, and ordered from the new place for the first time, I opened the door and the delivery person startled and said, "Oh it's you!"

Disability benefits could be reformed to get more people into work, says UK minister Sir Stephen Timms argues that a better system is possible without β€˜rapidly continuing increases in spending’

1/2 Look at the absolute state of this article! *Again* a government minister is conflating out of work benefits with PIP (which it needs repeating is intended to help people with the additional costs of disability). These needs don't go away just because the government βœ‚οΈ support.

Sometimes I use the 'committee business' move, which I know can be excluding while allowing a bit of conversation on a topic which feels safe and useful. Sometimes I have something specific to say (eg 'thank you for your ministry'). I don't have an answer which works regularly and feels authentic.
