In Switzerland you could get the Ranger which combined the Rekord C’s body with the Victor FD’s nose.

The nearest car to the Rekord C at the time was the Victor FD (launched the following year in 1967) & quite a handsome car too it was though sadly they didn’t offer it with a hardtop coupé option…
Factoid: Hard not to be impressed with the brio this Rekord C Coupé is being subjected to in this German ad.
Then again, that’s how they liked to promote cars back in the ‘60’s.
Note too the lack of seat belt wearing though I reckon the actual driver was suitably harnessed…

Factoid: The A10 Toyota Carina, the 1st of that line of cars & displaying its signature feature - those taillights with their chrome cover.
Such touches would be toned in subsequent generations (while the front end would be tidied up)…

Glad to have inspired your creative brilliance…
Factoid: Just your normal late ‘60’s pop song promo in an Authi dealership…
Check out the unusual use of a Mini’s boot & boot lid (possibly one not recommended by the manufacturers)…

Factoid: Amazing what you learn from an old mag: 76% of Cherry owners would buy another vs just 52% for the 127, but what you really need to know was the Cherry had a rubber bung as opposed to a proper fuel cap…
Factoid: Nobody needs reminding of the Arna though one wonders if anyone chose it over the Fiesta which while it was slower & more expensive was probably likely to be better built & certainly easier to service…
Factoid: Looks like a winner says this 1986 Delta ad & the S4 in 5 WRC rallies was just that.
Of course, the S4 is also remembered with tragedy too & the end of Group B…
Factoid: Launched 50yrs ago this month, 1984 was the Gamma’s last yr & when this was sold Lancia were offering big discounts to shift them from UK dealers.
I’m impressed not just 1 still exists but 1 was bought new in 1984.

Friday Commitment: One corner & another example why swing axle rear suspension could make such spirited activity far more ‘entertaining’ than possibly the driver intended…
(📸: Autocar)
Factoid: I’m sure you’ll be delighted to know that 50yrs ago this week Autocar had a competition to a Princess & not just any Princess either, the top of the range 2200 HLS with optional automatic transmission no less…
While Autocar was testing that car Leyland Cars had their own news that week…
Let’s also not forget it was badged in many export markets as a Lancia…
Factoid: A stylish, important car, the A112 had an impressive 17 year production run that ran from Nov 1969 to 1986 & let’s not forget it’s considered by some as the 1st modern supermini…
(📸:IG a/c finecarbrochures)
Factoid: Longer & lower but less roomy, the R25 (Renault’s 1st new car of 1984) was 459.74cm long compared to the Espace’s 424.18cm & you could argue the latter fulfilled the need for an estate version of the former…
(📸: Autocar)
Factoid: The ‘80’s Volvo everyone forgets, the 780 was the belated 262C replacement & like that car built in Italy by Bertone plus aimed at the US market.
Unlike the 262C, no one could criticise the 780’s looks which might explain why in 4yrs (1986-90) it outsold it…

Factoid: In Motor’s coverage of the new Austin Morris 18/22 Series in Mar 1975 this pic was featured showing the interior styling buck.
Interestingly, it also showed mock-ups for the Marina 2 facelift (ADO73) which hadn’t been launched when the 18/22 Series appeared…
(📸: Motor)
Factoid: While it might be news a Fiesta was in the 1979 Monte Carlo, here’s a reminder the Escort driving eventual inaugural WRC driver’s champ (by only a point), Björn Waldegård, lost that rally by just 6 secs…
Here’s the colourful cover promoting the new ‘Bigger! Better!’ Motor though only the Vauxhall has a suitably early ‘70s hue of the quintet - Tasman Orange, I think.
More importantly, the Vauxhall & Rekord D shared the same platform, front & rear bulkheads among other things. (2)
Factoid: Pick your early ‘70’s ‘impressive the neighbours’, large family car…
You have a Wolseley Six, Chrysler 180, Vauxhall VX4/90, Opel Rekord D & Ford Consul 2500.
Surely, the Consul is a shoo-in? (1)
(📸: Motor)
Factoid: While the Mk1 & Mk2 Cortinas enjoyed considerable success in overseas markets (both enjoyed periods as the UK’s leading car in terms of exports), the Mk3 Cortina was less so especially in European markets where its TC1 Taunus was favoured over it…
youtu.be/yCNsGbkXKgM?...
Ah, you’ve tried that route, I see…
Factoid: Clever, inventive cover though how would get into this Quattro (as I don’t believe early cars had a sunroof)…
Factoid: The seat belts in the original Rover P6 were supplied by Irvin.
The company’s founder, Leslie Irvin, invented the free fall parachute which explains the logo on them (apparently the firm gave a tie to anyone whose life was saved by one of their products).

Actually, you can appreciate the R4 Jogging in all its blue ‘bumperness’ thanks to this link to the Solido website.
Apparently the Jogging was built to mark the R4’s 20th anniversary which is something I learned today…(2)
www.solido.com/en/product/r...
Factoid: Not just any R4 but a 1981 French/Benelux limited edition called the ‘Jogging’.
You’ll have to trust me when I say it was white with bumpers, sunroof & rubbing strips in blue plus a rainbow side stripe…(1)
(📸: Autocar)
Factoid: No, I’ve never heard of the ‘Turino Coupé’ either but you got a full range of features plus ‘paintwork to your own specification’.
Let’s hope at one survives along with the fascinating Gamma Coupé Turbo…
Factoid: As everyone knows there are actually three back windows here - one for the Gamma Coupé, the ‘regular’ one for the Berlina plus an additional one located on top of the boot lid below the slatted cover…
1983 & an ad that is isn’t quite as clever as it thinks it is…
Factoid: Reminded of this pic from 2019 & what a collection of cars.
I’m thinking this Delta Integrale is an Evo 2 model, the last incarnation of the legendary car & noted by one of the coolest championship badges ever stuck on a car.
Lancia fans, like @darraghmckenna.bsky.social, let me know…
Kia made the 124 under licence btwn 1970-75 & assembled 6,775 of them (called the Fiat-Kia 124).
This launch ad shows Fiat’s own extensive testing of the original car.
Btw, it wasn’t the only Fiat sold by them as they also assembled the 132…(2)
