Two months ago, ahead of Grokipedia’s launch, I wrote about the toxic information sewage pipeline powering X, one that hundreds of millions of people rely on as their first source of information. Now that Grokipedia is here, I fear this is what information aggregators may look like more and more.

If Disney’s struggling Fubo TV can figure out how to be the destination aggregator for sports, and attract a significant portion of the 50 million-strong customer base still addicted to cable, it may yet be a viable business…

Polygon introduced me to my best friends, brought me to NYC, and gave me the life I’m so eternally grateful to live now.
Deeply devastating, and it means a bunch of reporters, writers, and editors (+ video!) will soon be available to hire. They are everything.
Polygon forever and always.
And now, a note on Bill Owens who, until this past week, was the executive producer of 60 Minutes.
We’ll be back next week with another edition of 60 Minutes.
Happy Easter, I spent the weekend writing 3,000 words about the Google schadenfreude occurring right now and how it symbolizes how bad the open web became when gatekeepers stopped being directories to keep everyone hostage within their own ecosystems. postingnexus.substack.com/p/google-sch...
This Christmas, the NFL will host 3 games, encroaching on the NBA’s 5-game holiday tradition. Is this the latest tactic in a cold war against the NBA, or is a monster day of sports-streaming big enough for both leagues?

Peacock executives, like their counterparts at ESPN, seemingly want to find out if streaming can be television again by investing in local sports fandoms…

It's Friday, which means it's time for the only declaration that holds true every single week: The Pitt is some of the best TV in years -- and we've had some truly great TV.
I like Bill Burr cause he doesn't try to explain it, doesn't try to understand it, he just constantly says "the billionaires are no longer happy being billionaires, that's weird man" and it really is just as simple as "why are you guys so fucking unhappy -- you won??"
This, from Neon's Tom Quinn, strikes at the heart of "implausibly big or devotedly small" framework I've used to talk about how success in media looks like in an empire + island world. Choosing not to attempt to win if willing to accept a different definition of success theankler.com/p/neon-ceo-t...
Maybe it's because our group chat only has two people with Android phones but it's been pretty okay on my end!
Case in point: Apple finally adding RCS support in iMessage means my friend groups doesn't have to go through eight different WhatsApp channels to talk to two friends on Android.
Pro-consumer regulation and pressure is Good. And hey -- Apple even "beat" Meta in that instance.
Apple's restrictive, monopolistic App Store practices make experiences for every single person unwilling to solely buy Apple products a terrible experience. Good blog on this from Eric Migi/Pebble team.

Monumental
historically, not great when it comes down to "ignore the judges" rhetoric
It's disturbing how quickly I've come to expect this exact level of non-existent empathy from White House press conferences. Shameful language.
Granted West Virginia isn't exactly 'Bama or LSU, but wild choice to make in the NIL Era of College Sports.

Such a good way of putting it. I love that. And it's like the first fish that bit was a goldfish, so the ocean seemed relatively harmless to the untrained eye, even if piranha and great whites and orcas were never too far away.
Not to mention that, unsurprisingly, The Dress being a viral moment from Buzzfeed but having the conversation play out on early social (mainly Twitter and Facebook) was all the engagement learning data needed to train algorithms to produce More Of That Whenever Possible, Natural or Manufactured.
He’s taking everything from us.
Excellent Garbage Day on Gavin Newsom's podcast and the wrong lessons Newsom took from the right's unparalleled dominant force online.
It's the Bravofication of it all. The tactics that make you very successful on a Bravo show also work on the internet. www.garbageday.email/p/gavin-news...
