RCEM: Wider NHS service shutdown over Christmas ‘storing up trouble’ for Emergency Departments in January - RCEM
22/12/2025 - The annual shutdown of parts of the NHS looms as routine services prepare to close or operate at reduced capacity over the festive season.
RCEM President Dr Ian Higginson has spoken out ahead of the annual Christmas shutdown of large parts of the health service.
He said the shutdown 'stores up' trouble for Emergency Departments in January and called for planning to mitigate this in future years.
