I was happy to co-author a chapter in it with @hcshulman.bsky.social on the role of cognition and metacognition in persuasion. We join a list of incredible scholars discussing the importance of social cognition 1/

I think p-values are next to useless either way. But consider this: have you ever seen a one-tailed test where p < .025? Or alternatively, consider someone who had a directional hypothesis and found it was statistically significant in the wrong direction, would they not report it as stat sig?

Hey if you are in Minnesota and you start noticing yourself hyper focusing, hearing whistles everywhere etc, that can be a sign of ptsd. PTSD is not just nightmares. I don’t know if the advice of playing Tetris or other repetitive games has held up but the VA does have good resources.

New Pub with Adam Richards and Zie Zhuang:

Ever wonder why reactance would work via a mass media message when there's no way to enforce the loss of freedom? We argue it makes more sense to model resistance in a politeness theory framework. We did 2 studies consistent with that claim and 1/2

Researchers turning continuous variables into dichotomies is always frustrating when coding a meta-analysis. People really want to think in categories but the world is mostly continuous.
