I've been unemployed for a few months. I now set myself pretend jobs to prevent the rot setting in. My son thinks this guy is funny, which is a good enough excuse to make something. Any requests?

How long does it take for a barista to earn enough money to buy a cappuccino in their own coffee shop? What does that tell us about different economies and coffee cultures around the world?
Work in a coffee shop? We'd love your input!

It sounds reasonable when the majority agrees. If eight out of ten people offer the same advice for an architectural decision, we assume it must be the valid choice.
But do we ever stop to think where that majority comes from?

It's worrying how many don't know the difference between Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment.
Continuous Deployment means that software is deployed whenever it's fit to be deployed - on every green build.

Why does this government not have the balls to stand up to lobbies?
Solar, batteries, ASHPs and EV charging points should be mandatory. As should passivehaus standards.
Why build homes as you would 50 years ago? When you could actually build for the future?

New! Cassetteboy vs Keir Starmer.
This took absolutely ages, so if you'd like to buy us a coffee at ko-fi.com/cassetteboy we'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.
Possible causes of your problems. Itβs a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.
47% of people think immigration is primarily illegal. There were 4% irregular arrivals in March
New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation
Hi @honeycomb.io @charity.wtf, I found a problem when using Google Cloud Run and Honeycomb with NodeJS that might be worth to add to your documentation as a pointer to fix the `root span missing`.
GCP adds some traces and it breaks the default integration.

England's water industry running amok. Govt's reforms can't work.
Govt says it will ban unfair dividends.
But shareholders can extract returns with share buybacks, interest payments on intragroup loans, artificial management fees and other charges.
Must remove profit motive. Nationalise.
Labour has a whopping great majority and four years left to turn this country around.
They should be setting the agenda, not chasing about trying to placate voters of a party with five MPs who will never vote for them anyway.
It's not only disappointing... it's embarrassing
United Utilities in use 'less water' warning as reservoir levels drop.
UU has 205 criminal convictions. It loses 175bn litres to leaky pipes, built no new reservoirs, paid excessive dividends, neglected Investment.
Wants people to pay more for less.
No national plan for water security.
It's a gloriously shabby leather three seater which can legit fit five, with very wide arms. All yours if you promise to treat it kindly and can transport it. Reply if interested and we'll DM.
Southern Water boss says people need to use less water
The only industry that charges people more for selling less.
Everyday story of England's water companies - Leaks unplugged, no new reservoirs, sewage dumped, mega dividends, customers fleeced.
Nationalise.
Itβs amusing how GitHub implicitly admits there is a problem with Pull Requests but adds another layer of complexity through Merge Queues to solve the symptoms instead of tackling the root cause, ie. the pull request itself.
Stacked Diffs is another such thing π

We've always vibed-coded. It's called writing code without tests.
For goodness sake give me a timestamp github, not "changed 4 hours ago"!!!
There have been some good posts on what "wide events" instrumentation is but not as many on how to go about it, what attributes you should add, or how to work with OpenTelemetry

I canβt help but think that this would be a good time for the Government to finally publish the unredacted Russia report!
We need to expose the βBad boys of Brexitβ and how Russiaβs malign influence is destroying the U.K.
This is just a reminder to the BBC that the Green Party exists and does in fact have 4 MPs.
You wouldn't think that, given the amount of coverage R*form gets.

Infrastructure as code is complex because infrastructure is complex. You have two choices: automation or abstraction.
