If you ever need an excuse to go to Japan (assuming you haven’t been already) sumo is a great one!

Something I wasn’t prepared for was how many women absolutely go wild for sumo in a country that is largely so emotionally conservative. Like Beatlemania type stuff. It was such a cool surprise. Also, Juryo is so much bigger than I realized. Not the AAA baseball equivalent I expected.

I’m familiar with it! This is the first tournament my kid gave a shit about and we watched all 15 days of highlights on NHK.

It’s so hard to describe what the set up is like what we basically sat with the same view that the camera gives you on TV before the boat starts. If you look behind us, NHK radio was broadcasting literally behind our box.
