Meant as a compliment....perhaps it is less about starting in the genre and more as maturing into being able to live in shades of grey and stare into the abyss. I love the darkness DG acknowledges.
I like emotional weight. Situations that bring gravity. A good game has all my players staring at me for five minutes because I've given them a moral injury. You can't do that with balance. 'Hero' games are a good start, DG is something you mature into.

Smith is a Maple MAGA nut job. Our only slim hope is the NDP in 2027 and even then I fear it would only be until people forget her brand of crazy and return to worshipping oil and gas.
That sounds like an interesting twist. As a GM I mess with the bonds to manipulate players into difficult situations on a regular basis. Often they will try to play it like that anyway when I have built attachment to the bond through the scenario story.
