The right sets the terms of our political discourse in so many ways, one of which is the idea that there isn't enough "debate" and "free speech" on campus.
We need to push back on this. The truth is (speaking for myself as a history prof), I don't really emphasize debate much in my classes/
Oh, thatβs rough. Whatβs the point of preregistration, again?
Thanks to the Consortium on American Political Economy for awarding me a grant to fund my research project on labor unions and partisanship! I'm excited to work with this group of scholars. You can read more about my research here: www.americanpoliticaleconomy.org/grant-projec...

New in BJPS: @amydmeli.bsky.social and I investigate how Fortune 500 companies changed their π° after Jan 6. We find that they balance the interests of their two audiences by sending signals of disapproval towards those who violate established norms while continuing to lobby key lawmakers.
My most recent article is now available @igajournal.bsky.social. And thanks to Hollins University, itβs open access!

Iβm thrilled that our paper, βPrincipled Pragmatism: Access-Oriented Interest Groups and Campaign Contributions After January 6,β coauthored with Florian Gawehns, has been conditionally accepted for publication in @bjpols.bsky.social. Weβre looking forward to sharing this with the world!
This man is a walking, (unfortunately) talking Dunning-Kruger effect.
This really was very good

Protestors outside the swasticar store
Trans right demonstration on the Capitol grounds
My son is home for spring break, so we spent a few hours today running around the monuments, eating all the food, and enjoying the sunshine. And of course we came upon some protesters along the way. I love this place so much.
Congress can reassert its Article I prerogatives--such as its Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 prerogative to "To establish Post Offices and post Roads"--any time it pleases
Again, the fatal flaw in the Founders' design is the assumption no branch would roll over for another

Even if some were to leave Northern VA, I fail to see how a massive, Trump-linked recession in Virginia could be good for the GOP in elections over the next few years. Dems will be pissed & activated. The economy is going to be in the tank, so the βcost of eggsβ voters wonβt be happy either.
Update β the order now extends nationwide:
Virginians -- since our AG Jason Miyares didn't sue, the judges order doesn't apply to us. He's up for re-election this year...
