She was thoroughly impressed with his intelligence (he was very excited to show off math and science knowledge) and she said that it was like talking to a mini grown up.
Good grief the apple did not fall far.

Therapist: Do you have friends to play with at school, like at recess?
My #ADHD 8 year old: I'm not lonely, if that's what you're asking.
Me:
"This Is What You Asked For" just came on the radio, so I turned it up to an ungodly volume and had what I assume is close to a religious experience jamming out and screaming along.
Ended the song crying, gasping for air, and happy vocal stimming.
I need another concert stat.
Me: *trying to be a normal human*
My #ADHD brain for the past 24 hours: EMERGENCY, EMERGENCY, PAGING DR. BEAT! EMERGENCY, EMERGENCY, PAGING DR. BEAT!
Although, it has lead me to realize that you can't find golden delicious apples ANYWHERE now and my kid doesn't believe me when I swear there are (or at least, were) totally yellow apples.
My kid is currently obsessed with his creation of "apple cow" which is simply my cow plushie that he sets an apple on the head of and takes a photo and insists that I share it with all of my online friends.
We're currently hunting for a mainly yellow apple as he's completed red and green... π
I tend to wake up every 2-4 hours when I do eventually manage to fall asleep, so most of my nights are a cycle of trying to fall asleep, sleeping for a bit, waking up, and repeating until I'm fed up, give up, and start my day.
Hey, #ADHD friends...
How to sleep well? I suck at falling asleep AND staying asleep. Anyone have any tips?
I've tried:
- low lights at night
- blue light filters at night
- reduced screentime
- asmr
- rain sounds
- sleep music
- melatonin
- a myriad of prescription sleep meds
I'm working on it myself. Honestly, growth here feels slow-ish but steady? I'm mainly attributing that to just a lower number of users than I'm accustomed to, tho.
I have a jar of clean forks and spoons and a jar of dirty forks and spoons, thank you very much. When the clean jar is empty, they all get washed. #ADHD
Sorry, y'all. I've given Planet Fitness way too much money over the course of several years bc I can't manage to get my membership cancelled successfully. I got hit with the 40 dollar yearly fee today when I really couldn't afford it.
I wanna punch a fucking wall. I'm so sick of paying the #ADHD tax.
AH! I had a question that I wanted to pose to my fellow #ADHD folks.
My kiddo last night was talking about how when he brushes his teeth, he can't taste anything for around 30-60 min. (Orange juice tastes bad, apparently nothing else has a taste.) Maybe SPD?
Anyone else experience this?
My #ADHD ass going immediately to tears when my emotions get too big.
Oh, no worries! π«Άπ» I meant to talk about it on here and, shocker, it totally slipped my mind! I use the strategies that I use for myself with him as well, and the 5 task cleaning is a biggie for me!
I'm also AuDHD and I totally understand how much it helps to break a big task into smaller, more manageable tasks π«Άπ»
The way that we clean already does this, but I might add a little check list beside it!
Our cleaning method is that any room only has 5 tasks that need to be done, and it can be done in any order!
- Clothes
- Dishes
- Trash
- Things with a home
- Things without a home
Just saw a chores hack that I think I'm going to try with my #ADHD kid.
Basically, you just tape up a picture of the room where it's 100% clean so that your kid has a frame of reference and can compare their environment to the photo.
It ideally takes some pressure off of their executive function.
When I actually hyperfocus on the task I needed/wanted to do today

Did you know that #ADHD folks often deal with hypermobility and don't even realize it?
When I was a kid, I didn't understand the concept of "locking out your knees" because my knees didn't "stop". I didn't believe it was a thing until I saw someone faint from doing it.
As an ADHD artist/editor, I have made horrors simply because I wondered if I could. Sometimes I'll make something and then sit back and be like "Why did I create this."
For example. Girl, why.
Why is it that when I get cold, I get so, so, so sleepy?
Science pls explain.
That's all I have at the moment! If you found this helpful or interesting, consider giving me a follow! Feel free to ask any questions about what I've listed and I'll answer to the best of my ability! π«°π»
The game also has the option of soundscapes or built in music if you're like me and true silence is way, way too loud. (Some of the sounds also change the visual effects at your window!) They're adding a new DLC soon, as well!
It also provides the benefit of a body double in your little friend whose activity you can set. Your little bud has their own space that you can customize with credits that you earn simply by having the game open. You can also customize your character with a fairly large amount of creativity.
Lastly, the only thing that isn't technically an app and is also paid, but it's genuinely so good and helpful that I can't exclude it.
Spirit City: Lofi Sessions.
This "game" is the ultimate tool for folks with #ADHD. It has a habit tracker, a journaling function, a pomodoro timer.
Sweepy!
Essentially the same exact thing as Finch but with cleaning tasks specifically. They've added the ability to customize rooms as well! Unfortunately you need the paid version to add multiple people to a household, but it's great if you're the main "cleaner" of the home or live alone!
Finch!
Game-ify your self care and to-do list! You get a little Finchy friend that gains energy as you complete tasks, with task options that are friendly towards bad days (Ex. "Survive the day"). You can also dress your little friend up and customize their home!
LGBTQ+ friendly as well!
