Thereβs lovely isnβt it?
King norty felted weasel on skis made of curly wurlies one is half eaten.
The Shed Olympic downhill skiing team hit a snag when their captain ate their skis.
The Last Rotation of Salford?
Iβd wager that it would be a legacy of a lifetime of heavy smoking. Almost ubiquitous in writers of his era.
Not allowed these days. This is a rare pic of him in full whiteface make-up for The Pale & White Honky Show which ran until 1978.
Heβs not wrong, to be fair.
βYou just bought a leaf blower. Hereβs adverts for other leaf blowers filling your social media feed for the next two weeksβ.
An audiophile shop assistant once - around 1996 - tried to interest me in a Β£100 audio cable saying it was βBBC standardβ. I said if that were true it should have phone jacks at either end and the impedance characteristics of a kettleβs power lead. I didnβt buy it.
Gave my followers 6 months notice (I had a follower/follow ratio of 10:1) and deactivated a month ago. Not missing it and not going back.
Better to have one fucking massive one. Economy of scale and all that.
The news broke late afternoon in the UK not long before John Cravenβs Newsround was scheduled. BBC News wanted to take over but Craven stood his ground and led the coverage despite massive pressure. Wouldnβt/couldnβt happen now.

The full negative effect was achieved on the mixer as Clive attests (and could be mixed variably via a fader lever). Itβs a long time since I did it, but my recollection is that itβs definitely a deliberate effect. Very subtle (arguably too subtle unless they worried people might start fiddling with their horizontal holds!) but too localised, persistent and targeted to be a random fault.
A very thoughtful and inventive director and a lovely man to boot.
He was βGenialβ Sgt Major Grout in Camberwick Green.
