'A snarl! A scruffle round the room!
A sense that Death is drawing near!'

A grey and white dog licks whipped cream from a pup cup held by an offscreen person. She is focused on her task!
Happy Gotcha Day to Bella! We adopted this good girl five years ago. A pup cup for our sweetie!
A medieval illustration of a hedgehog with grapes skewered on its spines
It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea
A loon carrying three babies on its back, credit to wildlife photographer Ricky Roman of Minnesota
Minnesota, my home, is carrying a heavy burden right now.
Being kind is not being weak. The strength to care for others, to love and protect our neighbors, to be a shield and not a sword, to be warmth in the cold is true Minnesota nice.

Carpet Shark!
Gorgeous!
Scotland is rich in folklore, where even our trees are part of myths and legends! π³
The rowan tree was often planted at doorways as protection against enchantments. Ancient Druids considered it sacred, using its wood and berries for rituals and ceremonies. β¨

Happy Winter Solstice! May you slumber in a pile of your friends and family underground for the next 5 months until there is real light in the sky and grass in the mountains.
Or not. Youβre not a marmot, and you might want to consider different life choices. Up to you.
A photo of two tiny ceramic ermines. One is sitting calmly and the other is standing with its tail upright and back arched.
A pair of extra tiny ermines will be in this shop update! These two were super fun to make, but I might make them a little bigger next time. They will be available this Friday, November 21st at 8pm Eastern time.
Marvelous mustelids!
Close up of a sleeping grey pittie/staffie mix nestled in a blanket. She is cozy and softly snoring.
Bella is sharing a blanket on the couch with me. I love her puppy snores.

We just finished printing some creatures of the night on this Halloween... π¨π‘

A little modern coffee window, with red wood frame, and lighter wood counter, window, and stools. Inside a dark brown sheltie works a bright blue espresso machine. She's holding the portafilter willed with ground coffee in her mouth. Outside the window, a lighter brown sheltie in a blue apron holds a plate with a croissant in her mouth (amazing self control), offering it to a french bulldog patron. Foliage is reflected in the windows, and casts light blue shadows on the wall. To the left is a potted lacy tree philodendron on top of a cinder block.

Sketched as if the bats are three scoop of ice cream in a waffle come, in a digital colour pencil style
#fatbatfriday with three sweet scoops of microbats - aiming for that Neapolitan look with a Honduran white, Chocolate wattled, & Eastern red bat in a waffle cone (stacked by average max weights).
If you need the reminder: have a drink of water, have a snack, and take a long, slow & deep breath in.
I first misread the name as βSerotonin batββwhich still works since seeing her makes you feel happy. π¦
I had to look up the penultimate ingredient to be sure you werenβt going all βDouble, double toil and troubleβ with this brew.
Take a break. Enjoy the sunshine with the flowers and the bees. #calm #pollinators #garden

A curious river otter pokes its head out of the water to check out the kayaker behind the camera.
One of my river otter escorts from the other evening on the kayak. They're always so curious, but I'm glad we manage to keep a safe distance between each other. Taken with a long lens. πΏπ¦
Gray pitbull/staffy dog snoozes peacefully on a couch. She is undisturbed by the sound of jet planes but will be at high alert if a chip bag crinkles.
Good thing good dog Bella isnβt afraid of thunder.
Illustration of a Pied Butterfly bat on a slice of rainbow cake
The semi-anagram within my Pied Butterfly bat from fatbatweek 2022the did not register until just now.
I purposefully picked rainbow cake to celebrate queer diversity (along with 2023's Golden Gaytime + Gold tipped bat). Biodiversity and Social diversity - both matter immensely.
A rainbow made up of different Manitoba wildflowers. The red on the left end is a three-flowered avens (lantern-shaped flowers), orange - wood lily, yellow - goldenrod, green - green bog orchid, blue - lungwort (little blue bells), purple - iris.
Happy #Pride everyone. Nature is infinitely diverse.
A first edition of the novel Dracula
A photograph of Bram Stoker
A section of Bram Stoker's notes where the name Wampyr is crossed out and replaced with Dracula
Today is #WorldDraculaDay because Bram Stoker's classic novel was first published #onthisday in 1897. It's also worth remembering that if Stoker hadn't come across the name Dracula in a book while researching in a LIBRARY the main character was going to be called Count Wampyr. π§ββοΈ

A closer view of a small orange ceramic fox that stands with tail held up in a jaunty way.
My #Tea4T pet arrived! This lovely little friend was made by Shirley Jackson. Thank you @lioninthetrees.bsky.social and thanks to organizers @shing.bsky.social and @leslielevings.bsky.social !
Holly blue butterfly with early purple orchids

Itβs been a good start to the season for #butterflies here. Lots of orange tips & yesterday my first blue of the year. Uplifting after last yearβs washout and fills me with hope that things could recover π€
Happy My Good Friend Jonathan Harker Has Written Me A Letter Day to all who celebrate.
A red sea serpent with little wings or fins. He might be a stupid dragon. His long, long tail curves several times before vanishing into the water behind him. You can't tell where in the world we are, as there are no landmarks. The serprent's tongue is yellow, like he's just popped a banana slug into his mouth. His expression kinda looks that way, too. His eyes are wide and his maw is open in something that looks like surprise. Like someone just pinched his butt in the middle of his quarterly earnings presentation. His name is Speril, and he is an only child.
A green sea serpent curling around an old-timey sailing ship and chomping down hard. The ship is probably screwed. The serpent -- her name is Marmalayda -- is not. Her eyes are wide with anger and her thick body is likely to crush the ship. All of this is happening just of the coast of S. America, and Marmalayda's tail is arching over Patagonia before vanishing into the Pacific.
Drawing some sea monsters today, and finding just the right home for them on the map.
