Another pile on not reading what I said
Oh boy, hanging your hopes for avoiding the complete collapse of what is left of our democracy on Schumer. Good luck with that.
You don't see a problem with a 77 yo, tied to status quo leadership, and heading into a 6 year term? And what do you consider popular? She hovers around 50%. I voted for her twice and she'll get my vote again for senate. But the initial question was Why is Platner a Thing? And my answer stands.
"yelling" because you are projecting assumptions on me that aren't accurate. As for Schumer, you can have your procedural hero. He's just as owned as anyone else in the senate. www.opensecrets.org/members-of-c...
Oh FFS shut the fuck up. Schumer's a weak ass status quo do nothing who sends letters of concern. The Dem version of Collins. Mills was a good governor, stood up to Trump and that was great. I voted for her. 2x. But the entire party needs new blood. 80 is too old. And GTFOH with your assumptions.
FWIW, I don't know how many regular folks (read: not on BlueSky) actually know anything about the tattoo, posts, reposts, etc. The local media has mentioned it here and there but by and large I think much of the state is ignorant to that info at the moment.
Agreed. And I suspect that when we get a little closer to the primary Mills will start running ads about that. She hasn't yet. And I expect she will prevail in the end as well.
Mainer here. Platner is a thing because we are desperate for something/someone new. I jumped on the idea of Platner early (have since abandoned) because I don't want 77 yo Janet Mills, a Schumer type old guard Dem. You'd think we could come up with another viable candidate, but apparently not!
It's astounding to me how many people / pundits still try to assign some sort of strategy to what he does. Every bit of everything is about him, and it's all essentially on a whim.
I'm having liver pate cat food for dinner. I'm investing the savings in bitcoin.
Just read that chapter in The Disordered Cosmos. Looking forward to this read!
Not sure if the cheerleaders or #20 are at the greatest risk of injury.
That makes think more like "was this a 2 person scenario or are you birthing the messiah?" π

Hobby physics is pretty fabulous isnβt it? But my goodness itβs also somewhat distressing!

As a fan of a rival team, I have hated the Patriots for decades. But boy howdy that's quite a snub.
I've been wondering how long until armed protesters show up en masse. I don't want to see protestors and ICE shooting at each other, but it seems inevitable at this point.
ICE is changing tactics in Maine: "Now, the volunteers in Maine say federal agents have started showing up at their homes and intimidating them or threatening arrest. Some of them, masked and wearing tactical gear, have issued stark warnings not to follow them." www.pressherald.com/2026/01/23/i...
Not the primary likely--both Mills and Platner are sufficiently anti-Trump and anti-ICE, with Mills semi-famously having stood up to Trump to his face.
But it may galvanize both pro and anti-Collins sentiment. Take a look at PPH, BDN, or FB comments on any ICE news story and it's pretty scary.
I needed to hear this today. Thanks!
Did anyone tell Florida half of it is gone? I suppose that may be accurate soon with the sea level rising...
This is so bad, but thanks to the rest of NATO for doing this.
