I'm still here.

That's 3 arc seconds shift, but I'd like better! More resolution! Bigger lens! Bigger everything! Make it the size of a bus!
Ghetto #autocollimator made out of the junk the neuroscience nerds leave around. Now that I have it working I'll try a lens with a huge focal length.
Exactly, and we eat on pink granite.
My dream kitchen remodel has countertops with 12" thick granite with sub-micton global flatness.
Very pretty and slightly maddening little stainless part for neuroscience with lots of angles and precise little dowel pin holes and shoulder screws slip fits etc
Why does autocorrect insist on MILKING machine instead of milling machine. My God.
Sure but you have to actually check back, my friend ๐
Oh dear God this is tiring "work".
I could never pin down your accent, but I was guessing Belgium for some reason. Give me an address I'm ready. U.S. is a dumpster fire.
Whoah. After about 15 hours of fiddling around I think I've finally figured out Moore pattern scraping baby!
But big grinder can also be too big for NYC.

I'm gonna start scraping with very very modest aims and try to get a feel for it but I'd like to scrape some square stuff and some dovetails hopefully.

It's pretty fun.
*lapped not "lapsed"
Relapsed the OD and base of this magnetic eBay cylinder square to +/-0.0001" (2.5 micron) after work today. Much improved over the initial half-thou error. Absolutely incredible what OD laps can do for circularity and surface finish. The main issue starting were the weird non-circularities...
An excellent way to sweat out the evil spirits during an unsettling moment in history. I'm on the same track.
Maintain a phlegmatic temperament when possible for optimal machine scraping.
Gorgeous. I'll take one as well, plz.
I know I've probably asked before but what type of machine is this? Barker or something?
and they compress down to almost nothing, and they have a nice wide flat face on both ends.
I highly recommend ordering one on McMaster. They are one big 4-axis wire edm piece as far as I can tell, but they still have some mysteries as far as fabrication is concerned. They are inexpensive and very cool. They have a LOT of axial stiffness for such thin metal
Wave compression springs and garter springs in the smaller ID's both make excellent jewelry for the dandy machinist.
