All ready to move to a house tomorrow - I haven’t lived in a house for 23 years…excited about the garden…not looking forward to the stairs 😂

Map view of my soup and a medium sized round spoon. Not perfectly round but less pointy than the other spoons.
This is the only spoon of this shape/size in the office kitchen. So I had to claim it. The other spoons are not as good…
How to we respond (we have to)
- clarity to students (and staff) with clear policy and guidance. How can we respond through scholarship e.g. Action research
/end keynote #AISymp26
Who is most likely to get ahead in a policy vacuum? Whose responsibility is it to master AI? Who sets the direction of AI use and guidance?
Learning is relational and maybe we need to rethink how we create these relationships along the learning journey.
Is the curriculum still up to date for 2026? Are learning outcomes limiting us (HE does move slowly sometimes) what should be assessed and how? How do we integrate curiosity better into the learner journey and accommodate fast and slow learning?
Reflection matters: AI is a wicked issue and requires deep reflection. How do students use and engage with AI in certain ways? For example shortcuts (reading) help with writing (want to sound more academic). What does need to change?
Probably a lot - AI has highlighted some systemic issues in HE
Representation deserves nuance - who is talking and who is being included in the AI debate.
Diverse experience deserve diverse solutions and policy development.
First up the keynote from @lydiaarnold.bsky.social reflecting on similarities between AI and the start of the internet. How do we adopt and adapt as HEIs. Legitimate concerns deserve robust evidence! How does our use of AI compare to other technologies. #AISymp26
At the @advancehe.bsky.social AI symposium today. Will be presenting later about adding AI to creative practice to help students overcome the fear of not being creative. I will try and post through the day in this thread. It’s been a while so I might be rusty…#AISymp26
Here are my reflections on almost 10 years using the #BulletJournal or #BuJo system - stephaniezihms.blog/2026/01/30/a...
Be interested to hear how you get on with it. I’m back to using a paper journal but quite like the idea of having something searchable…
Loved the word cloud chapter - slowly making my way through…just nice to give myself that time for some fun reading
My desk - showing my laptop and 2 screens. Obsidian is open on the middle screen. A note with my reading colour code, a cup of coffee and Helen’s book.
My 2026 Thursday morning “me-time” work version - reading first thing with a coffee and @obsidian.md for notes. At the moment I’m reading @drhelenkara.bsky.social The Handbook of creative data analysis - for my own development and for ideas for new workshops. #ResearcherDevelopment
Get through 2026 first…
@annasharmanrd.bsky.social did a great job live posting from #REDSConference2026 - definitely something I need to revisit as a practice…along making more use of this platform again

I'd appreciate help circulating this survey, part of our overall work on neurodivergence.
This one is on behalf of the graduate deans, to develop better supervision guidelines.
You can help by boosting and circulating the link in your various networks 🙏 redcap.unisq.edu.au/surveys/?s=D...
Another blog post - this is all about grounding your #ResearchStrategy in your values and planning and working with your holistic self stephaniezihms.blog/2025/11/21/g...
Not sure if this is an #ADHD hack but we started a master shopping list and tick off what we have and then know what need to buy…rather than having to work out what we need…what are yours?
We are moving from Spotify to Qobuz (www.qobuz.com) - week 2 of the free trial and very happy with the sound, music available and features…it’s cheaper and supports the artists better
I would love an #ADHD setting on my washing machine. Rather than beeping three times and then shutting off when a wash is done , it beeps three times every 15min. If the washing hasn’t been taken out after a certain time the machine does a short refresh cycle and we start again…
Ever notice how you're way more supportive of other people's research than your own?
So... what if you wrote about YOUR work as if you were someone else? This rewriting-in-role technique (Claire Coleman) is surprisingly effective for combating imposter feelings.

Our wee guy did not let the surveyor out of his sight…he will make a good QA person some day.
New! Cassetteboy vs Keir Starmer.
This took absolutely ages, so if you'd like to buy us a coffee at ko-fi.com/cassetteboy we'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I am working on a really cool project - a pop up science and art shop in Swindon!
We are looking for researchers to run public engagement activities in this space from 25th Oct - 1st Nov. If you are interested, please get in touch via my website contact form: www.sarahcosgriff.com/contact
My favourite distance is the half marathon…training is just more manageable for that. I do a lot of problem solving on my runs…
Apparently Thursday evening is peak Vinted shopping time - most of my baby stuff sold within 2hrs of posting and I spend this evening getting it all packed up ready to be shipped tomorrow…
