A mix of quieter music that I've enjoyed this year, all released (or in just a couple of cases reissued) in 2025. Not an exhaustive list, by any means, but plenty there to dig into. About 6.5 hours long, so something to stick on your headphones and potter around to?
Spotify is now running recruitment ads for ICE.

Nice! I live on Linnet Street in Warsaw. In Polish it's MakolΔ gwa (ma-ko-LONG-gva)

Tomorrow Iβll release the 193rd Canary album.
I know itβs dumb expecting people to pay for obsolete music, particularly since it looks like Iβm just leaving it at the side of the road.
No promotion. No branding. No merch.
But $70 gets you a lot to chewβ¦

My final show on radiojazz.fm
Rather than the usual format of 80-90% brand new music, it's more of a look back.
My new home is Radio KapitaΕ and the first monthly 2-hour show goes out on Wednesday 16th July at 4-6pm UK / 5-7pm Central European Time

That this tracks to the same timeframe as the rise and sustained career of Oasis is purely coincidental.
Saw her last year with Farida Amadou and Chris Corsano. Amazing set!
New show up.

It's an ermine. da Vinci's 'Lady with an ermine' can be found at the Czartoryski Museum here in Poland.
Seen the painting, never tried the wino!
Rubblebucket's 'Stella the Begonia' has been my internal jukebox's default track of the hiking season this year.
They are. Still touring intermittently off the back of 'play Terry Riley in C'.
My predictive text offered up Terry's surname immediately, too!
A goofy stomper 'America' certainly is, and the rap on 'Stay one jump ahead' is equally daft, but I love 'My love of this land'. The title track has elements of Young Gods' debut.

Hi Rachel: I really enjoy the records you're sharing. Is there some outlet for this music? Radioshow? Record shop?
Cheers! Phil, Warsaw

Her new album on Warsaw's @mondoj.bsky.social is well worth checking, as is the rest of the label's output!
Plus some black Friday cheap purchases of a Glossy Mistakes comp and another copy of Corn.
A great 3 days of cinema hopping. Death Spa, Peaches goes bananas, and Antenna: a silent movie with live soundtrack by Antonina Nowacka, also responsible for my joint favourite gig of the year thanks to her unforgettable album premiere performance at ZachΔta gallery in Warsaw.

Doing a stint teaching my kid's preschool group, I was singing 'The farmer wants a wife', my 6 year old son: "pfff, the farmer wants a life".
Tonight!
Beautiful music from Slovakia, France, Japan, Brazil,
plus Arthur Russell, 80s Loner cassette work from Amsterdam, and more!

Still my favourite strand line discovery to date - a female Phronima sedentaria (βmonster in a barrelβ) - Isles of Scilly, October 2023!
