Rehearsal: 40:00 driving, 30:00 load-in/setup/teardown/load-out, ~8:00 playing.

I swear this year’s monsoon is like the gifted kid stuck in “normal” class. Started early and strong, got bored and slacked off most of the semester, then suddenly realized report cards are coming so is trying to cram in extra credit work to make up for slacking.

Alarm because dentist, dentist, Covid shot, voted, grocery shopped… I don’t think this is how vacation days are supposed to work.

And here comes the photobarf.

I’m taking a mental health week. Made it up the mountain for a hike today. So many wildflowers. And some teeny tiny acorns.

Same in AZ. Saw a headline yesterday (I think) about our governor demanding a blanket rx for all AZ residents but I haven’t looked further than that.

It’s a vicious cycle.

Sometimes you truly need some downtime to recover from all the things. Sometimes you’ve had too much downtime & need to kick your ass into gear to fucking do something. Anything. I know which side of that line I’m on right now. I don’t like it. Also don’t really feel like doing anything about it.

Despite my year+ Amazon boycott, a friend has their first book out and that’s the only place I can get it. Amazon offered me a month of Prime for free, so here I am. What’s some good sci-fi/fantasy that I would’ve missed over the last year? Yes I’ll catch up on WoT and Rings of Power.

I can’t tell yall how happy I am to be able to play my Rhodes again. Yeah my laptop with MainStage and a MIDI controller are easier to move but they’re not the same.

Shit’s hard right now. Sometimes things suck. Sometimes they suck for a long time. Sometimes the best we can do is hope the light ahead isn’t another god damn train. Sure are a lot of trains though…
