She knew about their plan to drop more Black vendors (because they announced it) when she told folks to keep buying her stuff after boycott talks started.

You just saved me some time. First couple of episodes arenโt even interesting enough for all that.
And so often when they enable abuse this show, there is a Black woman on the receiving end. This season reminded me why I stopped watching.
Pink background with white text reads โIn Warmth of Other Suns, Isabel Wilkerson details the life of George Swanson Starling who fled the south during the great migration. He had been working the orange groves in Florida doing grueling work for very little pay. At great risk to his own safety, he organized folks to band together to demand higher wages. He would often negotiate to get them something like a weekโs worth of wages for one day of work. Thing is, when the demands werenโt met, it meant they couldnโt work so they had to go without pay for a day.โ
Pink background with white text reads โAnd even though sometimes those folks had already made more than what they would have earned for the week in the days prior, not working for a day here and there caused a lot of fear in folks. Fear for their actual safety, fear for their livelihoods, fear they would make the grove owners/controllers mad. Eventually, folks got scared enough that they turned on George. Told the people that hired them that it was all Georgeโs fault and heโd made them go along with it. Ultimately, George had to flee for New York or he would have been harmed to a great degree, likely fatally. The peopleโs fear of what they would lose if they demanded more was valid. As was Georgeโs desire to demand better treatment for all of them.โ
Pink background with white text reads โBut the only way through to better was them sticking together. And the folks who oppressed them knew that. So the fear worked in their favor. At the end of every day, it donโt matter if we think we our ancestors. The reality is that one day we will be the ancestors. And we get to decide which kind we want to be. Whether we will be kind who were just fearful of what we lose if we demand more or whether we will be the kind who demanded more in spite of the fear. Either choice is valid.* Only one gets us through to better. There will be great cost to all of us either way. *Fear is valid. Snitching ainโt.โ
Pink background with white text reads โAnd while this could be related to Target, this definitely ainโt just about Target. The Target boycott is an opportunity to do some lighter work. Olโ dude nem ainโt even brought out the tanks yet. Because if we scared about what we lose if we donโt demand better from Target, we in for a rude awakening for the fear these folks gon work to instill. At some point, we gon have to make much harder choices. I hope we choose community. I hope we choose it now.โ
Pink background with white writing that reads, โMy momma used to say that if I ever got jumped, to just make sure I grabbed the biggest/baddest one and focus on taking them down. Best case scenario, the others would see I could handle the worst of them and get up off me. Worst case scenario, I took at least one of them down with me. Target, Walmart, Amazon nem trying to jump us. We only need to take one down to get the rest of them up off us. Letโs show Target we not playing. Especially during Black history month. And those of us with privilege and access can take on more than one of the bullies at a time.โ
Yup. Wild times these are.
I was just thinking about how much Iโd miss watching stuff with yโall! ๐ค
โAlex Bailon, who was incarcerated at Pine Grove from June 2019 to September 2020, once worked 24 hours on, 24 hours off for 56 days straight as a teenager. โYouโre put in danger every time youโre on the fire line. Itโs hard to explain what itโs like to have fire all around you[โฆ]โ
Sadly it doesnโt feel like a new low. Weโve been here before. And worse.
They know folks still wonโt give up that Prime. This seems like a good time to remind folks Amazon is being sued for intentionally slower delivery in Black neighborhoods while still charging those folks full price for Prime. #cancelPrime
โThe Friday DoJ report, however, acknowledged that the attack by white citizens on Black residents โwas so systematic and coordinated that it transcended mere mob violenceโ.
The exodus is the point. Breaking up communities, eliminating opportunities to share truth, taking away the small pieces of joy folks can find in these spaces, disrupting organizing. Heโs made billions off the folks he wants to leave now. Sounds familiar.
โThe building complex sits slightly more than a mile from the Hurst Fire.
As of Thursday evening, none of the nearly 100 kids incarcerated in the facility have been moved to safety, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Probation Department told The Appeal.โ
At minimum the air has to be so bad
When I say I hate it hereโฆ
I donโt know nothing about Itโs Always Sunny but Gregory stepping into the fray and asking Janine โAre you ok?โ hit the feels for me. Forget everything going on in this moment and whatever anybody else is talking about. *Are you ok?*
Absolutely. I want my credit.
Gaht damn Iโm looking forward to the 30 minutes of Abbott Elementary respite tonight
Let me make myself at home and start putting up some of my stuff
I live in the area and Iโll be staying away from there the whole week.
Outrageous! This needs to blow up. They want to throw out 60,000 votes and steal the state Supreme Court election in NC!
Packing my stuff now.
Iโm just like ainโt it bad enough yโall?!
โMy friends warned me that things would only worsen. They complained of suffering back-to-back hot flashes while being forced to work unpaid in the fields in triple-digit Texas heat.โ
Unpaid labor in fields under triple degree heat and no regard for the human performing the labor. Sounds familiar.
Nah for real
Told the whole truth and nothing but the truth
Thatโs exactly what they voted for.
Yellow book with Black hand holding money and wearing gold rings and a gold bracelet. Hot pink title reads โBad Fat Black Girlโ by Sesali Brown
My first post being a book by a Black woman makes all the sense. Now reading:
I wrote about Mike Tyson and why Iโm tired of writing about abusive Black men jamilahlemieux.substack.com/p/on-mike-ty...
For me the cheat code is remembering that people who actually love me would want me to make the healthiest choice for me. And anyone who doesnโt want me to do that doesnโt care enough about me so what they think doesnโt matter.
