Thank you John -- that was a great conversation (and the book is terrific -- a page turner even when you know how it comes out).

She is holding and a mic and there is a film crew. It is clear she is a journalist with her back to the police. No journalist should be shot.
It’s not just that it’s clearly intentional, it’s that it’s clearly intentional knowing that he’s being recorded. They know they can do whatever they want with complete impunity.
If anyone is having trouble following my (increasingly long) thread tracking incidents where police assaulted journalists at protests in Los Angeles this weekend, it's also in spreadsheet form here. This is the more organized version I've been sending to lawyers, agency chiefs, electeds, etc.
Hi Belinda. Sorry about this. Journalists who are reporting on protests are esp. at risk of injury at the hands of police. That dynamic has been far worse since Trump's first term where he vilified journalists endlessly.
LAPD is also known for it. After only 3 days, there's a long list of attacks.
Don’t shoot our journalists FFS.
Sticking a tariff on our exports is one thing—but actually aiming and shooting at our media is quite another
(b) but (a) also has charm!
A reminder that this case is about the POTUS requesting a change to factual cartography just one example from 1640 seen at MIT Science Museum.

Tribal college leaders said they were stunned by the proposed cuts to their already insufficient funding and had more questions than answers.
“It’s a dagger, and I don’t know how we can survive these types of cuts,” one college president said.

As an Ohioan who lives in Jim Jordan’s district, I’ve been waiting on this doc.
More than its political implications, I want to recognize the courage of the men who stepped forward to become the faces of this tragedy, including thousands of assaults enabled by people like Jordan.

Sure, I came from the US and my friend came from Switzerland...but we can afford to do something else. But can democracy really withstand this sort of thoughtlessness? The museum already sold the tickets -- and Macron had a private -- royal -- time. This defines out of touch.
Across the street at the Petit Palais, this amazing statue of a worker -- and does Macron remember that THIS is what he is supposed to respect?
Macron could have come at 10 before the museum opened. He might have (gasp) visited the museum with the rest of us. He might have done the day before and taken his photos and been saluted.
Today was the reopening of the Grand Palais (after 4 years of restoration). Timed tickets -- 26 euros each -- were sold for many exhibits. But the museum was unexpected closed and surrounded by police. All the people were turned away.
I worry about the future of democracy when leaders like Emmanuel Macron act like kings -- and possibly stoke resentment towards government. Macron has lost touch with what it means to work, to travel with children, or to spend 26 euros.
It’s a special honor to be among those receiving honorary degrees from Brown. It’s a place that welcomed me and shaped me and challenged me and liberated me, and made possible everything that came after. I’m looking forward to celebrating this weekend with friends.

Live in Philly? Get out and vote for Brian Kisielewski for judge for Common Pleas. I taught Brian as a college student and wouldn’t stand outside all day for many others!
Very worrisome pattern here of using the law to allow Trump to undermine the courts and nonprofit sector
