It turns out that we are all wrong and earth's magnetic field is not generated by dynamo action in the liquid core...

So there has been a lot of back and forth about this. I think there are two potential issues here: 1. The increased bureaucratization of HE, and 2. Senior management led "initiatives".
My profound thanks to all 3494 members of the scientific community who signed my open letter calling on the Royal Society to stand up for its values in respect of concerns raised by the statements and actions of one of its fellows, Elon Musk. occamstypewriter.org/scurry/2025/... 1/2
I will keep the letter open until 3rd March, the date of the meeting called by the Royal Society to discuss principles around the public pronouncements and behaviours of its fellows.
So one more week to add your voice to the call for the RS to stand up for its values.
