for an absolutely sickening example of horseshoe theory, look no further than Food Not Bomb's main website, where one of the co-founders has a link to a substack he wrote entitled: A CABAL OF SATANIC ZIONIST CHILD-RAPING CANNIBALS ARE SENDING US TO WAR

and i believe that you should be strategizing towards that goal and trying to construct *new* realities rather than resigning yourself to the existing ideology and hoping to simply redress harms within the confines of its conceptual framework.

i, on the other hand, believe that aspiring towards a universalist future that transcends the concept of race can be a motivating factor for seeking to dismantle the current white supremacist ideology and redress the racist harms that have been inflicted on society over the past half millennia.

03.03.2026 06:00 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

there is a even disparaging of universalism as a pipe dream, or even worse, as a way of focusing on an idealized future in order not to "sit with your dicomfort" of the ways in which *you* contribute to the harms of the current racist reality.

03.03.2026 06:00 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

in my (emphasis) experience, there is no discussion of what happens *after* redress of the social harms of racism. even as they believe that race is a social construction they don't seem to believe that, as a result, it is also just a stage of history. a configuration that is not eternal.

03.03.2026 06:00 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

which is to say, that its exclusive focus on racial justice to redress centuries of racism, causes people to ignore or even disbelieve in the possibility of a universalist future, one that transcends the concept of race. that isn't shackled by it.

03.03.2026 06:00 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

this is absolutely true. the problem, as i see it, is that the β€œanti-racist” strategy to combat white supremacy then *prioritizes* the current reality such that it ends up taking us further and further away from the ultimate truth.

03.03.2026 06:00 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

this presenter was explaining that people who believe in "color blindness" confuse the *truth* that race is a historical construct that does not actually exist, with the *reality* that the concept of race shapes every part of our day-to-day lives and has done so for centuries.

been trying to put my finger on what bothers me so much about the β€œanti-racist” ideology, and I think I’ve landed on something I heard one presenter say about people who believe in β€œcolor blindness.”

independent of trump, this democratic governance regime (as currently constructed) is not long for this world...

02.03.2026 21:41 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

not a great system of government when all branches have to show extreme deference to the executive during times of war and the executive can (essentially) unilaterally declare war whenever it pleases...

02.03.2026 21:37 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

*me living in oceania under big brother, turning to my buddy*: "lol, it's so deliciously ironic that the ministry of truth tells lots of lies!"

02.03.2026 20:11 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

1) it's not "ironic," it's an age-old strategy that literally has a name ("orwellian")
2) you don't "fall" for something when it is your strategy (even if that strategy might have blowback that ends up esnaring you as well)

supreme court: executive can't do this stuff if the country isn't at war.

executive: got it! thanks for the tip.

i think people still don't take seriously enough the threat of a federal administration that is actively hostile to a popular election happening, and are far too confident about the existing institutional mechanisms in place to keep that hostility in check

02.03.2026 18:55 πŸ‘ 5 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

going to keep harping on this point: the fact that trump and his administration so blatantly does not consult or care about what the public thinks of its actions at home or abroad is a huge tell regarding how it will treat future elections...

02.03.2026 18:53 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

every single psycho thing Donald Trump does he does only because almost every single federally elected Republican has chosen unilaterally, independently, and with complete freedom to go along with it unconditionally

"american fiction" is a little bit like this

28.02.2026 23:12 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

we need a "catch-22" style parody novel about the anti-racist milieu

28.02.2026 23:06 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

i just love that the response to saying, "we must transcend racial thinking because that is the root of white supremacy" is for people to be like, "you are only saying that because you are white."

28.02.2026 23:00 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 1

and it's the same quotes, authors, and books that just get rehashed ad naseum like some weird cult. and their "openness" and "inclusivity" extends no further than as a means of indoctrination

28.02.2026 20:10 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

it's whole thing is "race is a social construction...that we must do everything to continue to perpetuate, but in a more just way!"

28.02.2026 20:07 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

i'm seeing it help people essentialize race and make it more and more central, which is going to result in the opposite of its goal...

28.02.2026 20:06 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

the more i go to anti-racist workshops, the more i'm like this ideology suucks

28.02.2026 20:05 πŸ‘ 6 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

still think the media is actively culpable for getting us into these wars with they way they covered trump

28.02.2026 17:03 πŸ‘ 108 πŸ” 24 πŸ’¬ 4 πŸ“Œ 1

thinking of this in terms of big cities around the world though, not just the US

26.02.2026 22:07 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

surprised about labor mobility. aren't the places that have seen major increases in rent cities that saw large influxes of young people (i'm thinking of portland, denver, SF, etc.)? also thinking about this in terms of global mobility and big global metropolitan areas confronting this same issue.

26.02.2026 22:07 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

this is an exageration but i think there's something to it.

26.02.2026 21:57 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

it's too risky to gamble on becoming a hot city (investing and building for a potential future). so you don't build until it's too late and once you start build, the moment has passed and people have moved on to another spot.

26.02.2026 21:56 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

i wonder if the affordability crisis is just an inherent part of ever increasing human and labor mobility. it's impossible (or very hard) for cities to get ahead of the curve.
