That's the 4 seconds I was talking about.
That's the 4 seconds I was talking about.
I thought that was probably the best version if only cos every other one has had Quilp as a bad Richard III and I am including the 4 seconds that exists of Patrick Troughton in that.
I can see why that ended Anthony Newley's career. He fucked that up good and proper. Dreary songs and a terrible performance. Everyone else trying to compensate but it's a hopeless task.
Song: Love Has The Longest Memory
Nell is dead and Peter Duncan is singing.
Betsy is present to see him die, which I think isn't in the book but it's a good idea.
He's fallen in de water
Song: It Shouldn't Happen To A Dog
We haven't had a song for ages and Little Nell is beginning to look peaky.
As far as I can tell, Reader's Digest produced four live action films - Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Mister Quilp and It Shouldn't Happen To A Vat, plus a couple of sub-Disney cartoon shorts.
We have a travelling waxwork museum!
WINDSOR DAVIES. lovely pair of shoulders boy show them off show them off
Dick Swiveller ending up getting married to a 12-year-old girl, you probably wouldn't do that now, you'd write around it.
It didn't take off.
Song: The Sport of Kings
I spoke too soon, I see amusing circus folk played by David Battley and Ronald Lacey.
Song: Somewhere Somewhere but this time sung sadly by Michael Hordern
We're up to chapter 13 (Nell and grandfather doing a midnight flit).
The book has 73 chapters.
Song: Somewhere Somewhere
PETER DUNCAN
Song: Happiness Pie (additional serving)
Song: not sure of the title but it's about the jolly life of a lawyer
And he's singing!
David Warner!!!
I think we might not be getting the amusing circus folk and travelling waxwork museum in this adaptation.
With a smidgen of Harry Secombe, which is enough Harry Secombe for anyone.
Anthony Newley is playing Quilp as a cross between Keith Moon and Rigsby from Rising Damp.
It's taken 18 minutes to do the first chapter of the book. They're gonna have to speed up!
Song: I'm Quilp
Phil Davis!
