Heads up folks: @thetnholler.bsky.social posted an AI-generated video this morning that was a deepfake of the captain of the U.S. women’s hockey team, and they seem to be promoting it as if it’s a real video. So watch out for that and don’t spread fakes.

Do you all ever just listen to what your brain is throwing at you? Or catch it in the process of doing something, and stand as an observer while it does its work?

It’s quite an experience.

My brain is sometimes an arsehole.

Mostly, β€œI”, appalled, suppress that stuff, because it is not who β€œI” am.

When I was a young teenager at school in the early 1980s, I had to write essays for English language classes.

For some reason, my father kept one of them. It surfaced recently in a family message group.

The immaturity of it was embarassing.

But it was nowhere near as immature as that crap. JFC!

There has never been a President that has worked as hard as me! My hours are the longest, and my results are among the best. I’ve stopped Eight Wars, saving many millions of lives in the process, created the Greatest Economy in the History of our Country, brought Business back into the United States at levels never seen before, rebuilt our Military, created the Largest Tax Cuts and Regulation Cuts, EVER, closed our open and very dangerous Southern Border, when previous Administrations were unable to do so, and created an β€œaura” around the United States of America that has led every Country in the World to respect us more than ever before. In addition to all of that, I go out of my way to do long, thorough, and very boring Medical Examinations at the Great Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, seen and supervised by top doctors, all of whom have given me PERFECT Marks β€” Some have even said they have never seen such Strong Results. I do these Tests because I owe it to our Country. In addition to the Medical, I have done something that no other President has done, on three separate occasions, the last one being recently, by taking what is known as a Cognitive Examination, something which few people would be able to do very well, including those working at The New York Times, and I ACED all three of them in front of large numbers of doctors and experts, most of whom I do not know. I have been told that few people have been able to β€œace” this Examination and, in fact,

most do very poorly, which is why many other Presidents have decided not to take it at all. Despite all of this, the time and work involved, The New York Times, and some others, like to pretend that I am β€œslowing up,” am maybe not as sharp as I once was, or am in poor physical health, knowing that it is not true, and knowing that I work very hard, probably harder than I have ever worked before. I will know when I am β€œslowing up,” but it’s not now! After all of the work I have done with Medical Exams, Cognitive Exams, and everything else, I actually believe it’s seditious, perhaps even treasonous, for The New York Times, and others, to consistently do FAKE reports in order to libel and demean β€œTHE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.” They are true Enemies of the People, and we should do something about it. They have inaccurately reported on all of my Election Results and, in fact, were forced to apologize on much of what they wrote. The best thing that could happen to this Country would be if The New York Times would cease publication because they are a horrible, biased, and untruthful β€œsource” of information. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

UK rejects visa for girl left destitute in Jamaica by Hurricane Melissa Lati-Yana Brown’s parents had asked for application to be expedited so she could join them in UK after house ruined

Shabana Mahmood said this month that her migration policies are a "moral mission".

Where is the morality in blocking an eight-year-old girl made destitute by a Hurricane from coming to the UK to join her parents?

Maybe the name should be changed to β€œmanifesto intention” rather than β€œmanifesto commitment”.

β€œCommitment” does kind of make it sound like it *will* happen if they win.

The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist.

But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building.

I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

thus making it more difficult for less well off people to buy houses.

In addition, if people have been hanging on to large family houses that are too big for them, they might move into much smaller houses and with the excess money, but another house to let out, causing more pressure?

Does anybody have any concerns about the β€œmansion tax” causing people to sell their Β£2M+ houses to move into lower price houses, thus putting pressure on the lower house pricing market in terms of number of available properties and in terms of increasing the cost of those houses…

There was a weird moment when during Badenoch’s personal attacks against Reeves, Starmer whispered something to Reeves, and Badenoch said something like β€œIs he mansplaining to you?” This was clearly meant as an attack on both Starmer *and* Reeves, but by definition it *cannot* be both.

That β€œmansplaining” thing was utterly incoherent. What was she trying to say?

Are the Lib Dems (72 MPs) up next for comment on the budget or is it just a Reform (5 Mps) representative (NOT EVEN AN ELECTED OFFICIAL)

Astonishing drop in journalistic standards over the last year.

The leaked OBR assessment states that Rachel Reeves decision to freeze income tax thresholds will raise Β£8.3 billion in 2029-30.

So income tax will be going up, contrary to the election pledge, but stealthily, rather than openly

Holy shit. So Elon decides it would be nice to know what region of the world people are posting from. So they add that little feature.
2 hours later they figure out that many Trump supporters with millions of followers are posting from other countries. Surprise!
That "feature" is now gone.
