SC's crime is less the inaccuracy, it's actually weirdly knowledgeable about the era. It's just a story that is profoundly uncomfortable with the inherent implications and subject it is centered on

Which isn't a Romance but an interesting fictionalized take on the era (lots of liberties taken, but very beautifully written and melancholy9 Or The Scottish Boy, which is a couple centuries later but follows a more traditional romance plot with m/m
....not really LMAO ...it's nice if u like some cute moments and some elegant writing, but it's not meant to be accurate at all. Which is fine but I found it not really satisfying as a general romance story either for non-historical reasons. I'd rather rec things like The Lute Player (1955)
What it's like watching a movie with your parents as a kid that they forgot had mature scenes in it

There's a lot of homoerotic works (Narcissus and Goldmund....) but the modern conception of a structured romance...hmmm
*In medieval Christian Europe. In other parts of the world there's at least some more homoerotic traditions (although there is no "happy ending" necessarily in more transitory types of relationships)
I make fun of Solomon's Crown a lot for the bowdlerization but also it is interesting there seem to be very few MEDIEVAL historical m/m romance books out there that aren't fantasy. It's a challenging and uncomfortable era I suppose despite being the origins of western fantasy in the first place

Egon Schiele's "Danae" is a vibrant exploration of color and form, showcasing his distinct expressive style influenced by Secessionist art. The painting captures a reclined, abstract female figure enveloped in bold yellows against a rich, dark backdrop, which highlights Schiele's fascination with the human body and sensual themes.

There would still be a random heterosexual romance in it but like with a sexy tree or something
Either u be an aesthete Or if u must fandom slop, commit to it completely and roll in the mud π and experience bliss with ur friends
Lrt it CAN still be slop in the older definition of the terms (as in being a part of many, part of popular production) but It doesn't make it less fun I feel π€
graphic for cognitive reframing Reframe It. one frame says oh god oh god the inexorable march of time an arrow pointing to a second frame which says i sure have made a lot of yaoi

nothing you've ever been told (or made up on your own) about iran, iraq, palestine, syria, lebanon, afghanistan, the entire MENA/muslim world could ever excuse what america's done. and israel and all their grotesque, complicit allies. they were founded to do exactly this and can't fall soon enough.
It always annoyed me when people would characterize the prose of Lord of the Rings as something you have to get past in order to enjoy the story. The prose is the point!

Of course isnβt just driving. Itβs voting. Working. Travelling. Picking up a package. Applying for credit. Applying for a job. Renting a room. Filling prescriptions. Visiting loved ones in the hospital. Not expired either, but legally invalid.
If you have the means, please donate to the Trans Continental Pipeline right now. They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate and they are overwhelmed with requests. Colorado borders Kansas, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.

It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow
It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker
This was never about woman's sports
installed this and now the fan on my laptop has turned off for the first time in forever lmao
One of the things that makes the partisan gender gap convo so frustrating is centrists giving preference to men by talking about how we need to listen to their βvery real concernsβ when the concerns (driven by a bad media diet) are women have rights, can vote however they want, & can say no to sex
