had some thoughts on AI boosters' weird myopia

So it turns out that Bill Amend, the guy behind the Foxtrot comic, is a real one.
this is how I access BlueSky
Yeah you know what though? Sometimes I pull up Blooskee and it's already on Discover so IDK what's up with that.
Could just be my big ol' fat ol' thumbs though.
Saw some right wing sock puppetry this morning but lost it when I clicked off the Discover feed...mackinac people up to their bullshit again: a parade of "non-partisan" think tanks all quoting each other about how Lansing isn't doing its job but all these nice white people have fresh ideas...blurgh
*Rends garments*
*Gnashes teeth*
*Falls to knees*
*Fists to sky*
"Brooooo!" he wails.
"Brooooooooooo!"
Her trip to Ireland was ruined by this one question?? Gee, I wonder why…
Yep. You’re going to say “fuck tha police” one day and a month later you won’t be able to get through TSA.
"I'd argue that a lot of people will, like horses, be more free to be...wait, let me check my notes...erm...chopped up into dog food? That can't be right...lemme ask chat about this..."
Some people have never seen Chirin No Suzu (aka Ringing Bell) and it shows.
So much online conservatism these days is just "I miss being a kid"
On Women’s Day, I want to tell you about Magdė Bankaitė. During the Lithuanian press ban 1864-1904, she smuggled Lithuanian books across the Prussian-Russian border. Lost all her teeth in an interrogation, deported to Siberia and carried on once back. Heroine died in a shelter for homeless.
I'm too bored of this to try and be clever about it anymore.
If you think that two men kissing, or two women kissing, requires any more explanation than a man kissing a woman, that is homophobia.
For those who have forgotten the past 40 years:
Tax cuts for the rich
...don’t trickle down
Boosting military spending
...doesn’t bring peace
Slashing regulations
...doesn’t create jobs
Folks, we’ve seen this all before.
Also to clarify further: I'm using wordpress at Wordpress dot com.
This is mine - it's very basic, but I like basic (aka simple, usable, content-forward, etc): vytautasmalesh.com
That said, the learning curve can still be a bit...curvy. There's a LOT on the dashboard - some you'll want, some you'll need, some you'll wonder why the F it's there...I suppose that's true of any CMS.
BUT: No coding necessary. You can open up an HTML window, but you no longer have to.
Domain transfer was super easy & all but automatic, so the actual back-end was virtually nothin'.
UX-wise: there are a ton of ready-made templates ("themes") and the dashboard is reasonably easy to navigate depending on what you want to do. Mine is a blog & some pages - very manageable.
I have a Wordpress page.

And now for something actually important:
Well, gas is expensive, and food is expensive, and we’re doing a war nobody wants, but at least there are no jobs
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
Putin is very good at bullying because trump doesn't even seem to understand that he's being bullied. Trump is handing over his lunch money because he thinks he's helping his buddy and will get to sit at the cool kids' table. What he actually gets is a "kick me" sign on his back.
MacKenzie Scott gave my university 4% of the cost of bombing Iran for a day from her own pocket and you'd have thought it was the second coming. The govt could be saving lives and growing real, lasting happiness...but they chose this.
Plus, apologizing to people when they see that you are actively working on yourself is a small ask. Turns out most people are forgiving, and happy to see you happy.
Woof, right in the feels.
This was me for a long time. Life literally got better, I became happier...literally EVERYTHING in my life improved...once I started actively giving a damn and warming to other people.
Had to apologize for a few things...but a small price to pay in the long run.
If you took $1 billion and gave it to the endowment of a different small college each day, they could each provide a free college education to several hundred students per year in perpetuity. Instead we are using that money to bomb schools and kill students in Iran, for no clearly stated purpose.
