From reckoning to retreat: Journalism’s DEI efforts are in decline Diversity-related newsroom jobs haven't totally disappeared — but they also haven't stuck.

"I was part of a young, diverse class of internet-literate journalists who...were brought into traditional newsrooms to ensure their survival through diversity."

Thank you Sara for sharing our story about the new industry's retreat from DEI in this essay! www.niemanlab.org/2025/09/from...

AI-powered search is fueling a wave of Epstein Files transparency projects Newsrooms have long used AI to sift through document dumps. Now that same tech is being used to build search tools for readers.

In the vacuum left by the DOJ's faulty Epstein Files search, journalists and engineers have stepped in to create alternative AI databases. www.niemanlab.org/2026/03/ai-p...

Bostopia’s Evan George serves Boston daily news from a lefty perspective "You don't need to pretend to [to be neutral] or be worried about [what people think]. Because now it just sounds like you're hiding things and nobody trusts or believes that anymore."

This is a cool story about a Boston native who records himself talking about local news events as he strolls through the city. No fancy editing or graphics, and he's basically taking on the role of a local news anchor. He does all this while maintaining a full time job. There's no reason that his mo

Here's a sad thought: Mexican local media were the ones providing the public with crucial information on Mencho's death and the resulting violence, while artificial intelligence generated uncertainty and panic via false images and information.

But the money is going to AI, not local journalism.
