I'm at the #DHd2026 🎉
And the first day is already over!

At the workshop "Beyond m/w/d" I presented my approach to multi-layered, community-based and time-sensitive gender annotation for my corpus of German published slam poetry

It was a pleasure to contribute to an episode of SonicLit by @katherinemcleod.bsky.social and Jason Camlot, which aired in Montreal last Dec, about the conference "Poetry Off the Page Around the Globe" by @poetryoffthepage.bsky.social where they interviewed some of the poet-researchers attending ✨

I am also very grateful that I was able to co-host a preliminary round of SLAM25 and participate in the meetings of SlamAlphas, TINte, and the BiPoC/Migra network.
Congratulations to Ayşe Irem, who won the German-speaking championship title with fantastic performance poetry and standing ovations!

We could also talk about the exciting plans for my PhD!

SLAM25, the international German-speaking poetry slam championship, took place two weeks ago!
I was happy to toast with Denise Bretz from Lektora to celebrate their successful data donation for the creation of a poetry slam corpus of over 3,800 poetry slam texts for my master's thesis last summer 🎉

I'm beyond excited to continue my academic career in the rich environment of the RTG Literature and the Public Sphere and the Department DHSS at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg with Anastasia Glawion as my supportive PI.

I just finished my MA thesis in Digital Humanities in August, for which I created a large-scale digital corpus of published poetry slam texts and examined the textual representation of corporeality in poetry slam. Building on this work, my PhD project expands to a multimodal perspective.

I'm happy to announce that I am now a fellow of the RTG Literature and the Public Sphere at FAU! 🎉

In my PhD project I'm taking a multimodal approach to corpus creation & slam performance, investigating the role of corporeality in poetry slam.

I really enjoyed Jack Halberstam's lecture on anarchitecture & its relation to trans* bodies at @fau.de today! Material & social cutting of bodies as part of trans* experiences & the use of anarchitectural language to form imaginaries, deeply resonated with me. Can't wait for tomorrow's masterclass!

What a delight to learn about the vibrant slam scene in India. German slam could learn a thing or two about the participatory and activist slam culture shaped by people like him

I am thrilled to participate in the #PoParoundtheGlobe conference and discuss the cutting-edge developments in spoken word research! A lot of new food for thought for my own endeavors in investigating German slam poetry 💜

I'm happy that I could share my passion for poetry slam & the potential for scientific exploration in DH, and introduce my corpus of German poetry slam texts at today's presentation! The lively discussion and the exciting Ideas for further use cases will be a massive enrichment for further studies!
