Was able to contribute a little to the Eugenics zine featured amongst the brilliant collection alone.
Highly recc keeping an eye on the DARK materials, they’re written in plain language so can be a great way to introduce folks to some complex topics!

The EHRC is silencing trans rights activists
The EHRC was created to protect our rights. Now it's trying to quash peaceful demonstrations
The EHRC is bound to protect the right to protest. Instead, it is trying to crush it.
That's why Good Law Project is intervening to resist an injunction which would prevent – and criminalise – protest on the EHRC premises.

Ambrose stands in the bottom left corner of an image, wearing a black skirt, black boots, white shirt and black hat. They are speaking voice notes into their phone and balancing with their walking stick against overgrown grass. In front of them behind spiked fencing is the ruined entrance to Lennox Castle, affected by graffiti and fire damage.
Ambrose stands with their walking stick and wearing a pinstripe grey suit trousers and waistcoat, and a bolo tie. They are presenting a slide on “models of disability” which contains an image by disabled artist Dolly Sen of a charity tin which has a label on it of “Help the normals”, and a table with key features of the medical and social models of disability. Listed under medical is: disability = impairment, biological reality, individual deficit & medical intervention, prevention and care. Listed under social is disability / impairment, social barriers, sociopolitical & environmental, and activism and disabled people’s rights. The presentation is in a small seminar room with white walls and red carpet and black chairs.
Presented “Disability and Deinstitutionalisation: revisiting Lennox Castle” to other sociology students at Glasgow Uni, reflecting on the work I’ve carried out in this 1st year of my PhD.
Many thanks to Dr Lovelock for advice on presenting sensitive & emotional research, & driving me to fieldwork.

Ambrose wears a denim blue jumpsuit with badges sewn on reading They/Them; Trans Rights are Human Rights; and Gender Bender Cisstem Offender. They are smiling behind a blue face mask. They hold a homemade protest sign which reads “I began to think of gender less as a scale and more as a landscape” (Maia Kobabe, Gender Queer). The sign is decorated with drawings of flowers. There is a large crowd of people around them, all protesting for trans rights.

🧵For Women Scotland crowdfunded £230,000 for this trial. I am going to tell you as an actual feminist what £230000 pounds could have done for women in the UK.
-Fund housing for women escaping gender violence for eg it could have paid two months of rent for about 160 women

Yeah, this is what epistemicide looks like.
"Do not treat trans people like they are deserving of dignity. Do not speak against their dehumanization. It is illegal to push back against their vilification. The right to spread transphobia supersedes trans perspectives and voices."

Scotland the Brave - User movement roots - by Andrew Roberts
The Mental Patients Union movement has been one of my favourite things I’ve learnt about in my PhD thus far (as a former trade union rep I’m a bit biased)

For those interested in the 🏴 context, the Scottish Union of Mental Patients (SUMP) was est 2yrs prior to its London counterpart.
SUMP presented their “Petition for the Redress of Grievances put forward by the patients in Hartwood Hospital, Shotts Lanarkshire” on 18th August 1971.

Don't fall for the "you got nothing then!" replies to simple statements of obvious fact
"It was a Nazi salute"
"Well what about all [gish gallop], prove it was a Nazi salute"
"Nah man, it was a Nazi salute"
It calls out the utter absurdity of them writing a thesis to defend a fucking Nazi salute!

when some guy getting questioned for a position of international power and stature says “I’m not going to get into hypotheticals” he should be asked why not. Aren’t you asking for a job that’s going to involve planning for hypotheticals bro. Bro. Is that not the case

A dark wood cafe table takes up the foreground, with a pale yellow cup filled with a latte, and a chocolate brownie on a plate beside it. Taking up the most space in this foreground is a book with a cover that colour gradients from deep pink to cool blue. The title of the book reads “Family Abolition. Capitalism and the Communizing of Care” with the author’s name M.E. O’Brien in thick white block capitals.
In the background there’s another cafe table with someone working on a laptop, and a dark blue with glass panels door is caught in the uppermost left hand corner of the image.

"Equality, dignity, and freedom for all individuals" are words that were actually said today in the Northern Ireland Assembly as they discussed how important International Human Rights Day is at around the same time the NI Executive was voting unanimously to ban on puberty blockers.

A laptop sits on a table in a coffee shop, with a split screen showing reading text on the left, and notes in red text and / or highlighted yellow on the right side, a hand is typing on the keyboard. A semi finished coffee in a pink mug sits just by the crop fo the image.
In the centre overlayed atop the previously described scene is a cropped Tumblr ask post where Anonymous asks: “who is the biggest hater in history?” And a user replies “Me when I’m in a mood”
Two months in and this is perhaps the most accurate summary of my PhD journey thus far.

Some notes from someone who's been living 'my government is trying to kill me' for 20 years:
Don't tell people at risk 'we survived before, we'll survive now'. Many of them won't, and they know it.
