Continued progress on the relief carving of a rooster in basswood. I used a gouge to whittle away the wood in order to set the design, and doing so created a line of concave gouge marks. The wood is relatively soft and the marks in the wood make it look even softer and satisfying to carve through

This junco has been hanging out all day long sitting in a mini snow drift on my platform feeder nibbling seeds
I woke up to a junco nibbling exposed seeds in my snow-covered window platform feeder, who was later replaced by a mourning dove :)
(it's $50 for a ticket, but I feel like putting the bins in the street could get them full-on reclaimed by DPW and then you'd also have to pay for replacement bins)
Do it. People can be ticketed for putting bins out too early/taking them in too late, or for blocking sidewalks/driveways. Using them as space savers seems to tick all those boxes, and more!

Mercifully we were able to use a drill press to dispense with the majority of the negative space 😅 thank you for your compliment, it really was difficult. 9-5, hour lunch break, standing all day, driving blades into wood with intense focus. My body was wrecked for 3 days!
